It’s been a busy year behind-the-scenes at CGE as we kick things into high gear with plans for our big summer and fall releases. Being a designer-first company, CGE is well known for iterating, testing, and tuning our games right up until launch to make them as tight and polished as possible. We’re in a unique position to be able to do that since we manufacture all our games right in the Czech Republic.

In 2022, we’ve been hard at work prepping two all-new, big-box euro games and an expansion for the recently relaunched Galaxy Trucker. Each of these upcoming releases makes some bold design choices and offers a fun spin on what you’ve come to expect from CGE. So without any further ado, here’s a look at our exciting lineup for 2022!

Deal with the Devil – from Matúš Kotry, the designer of Alchemists – is a deeply thematic euro-style game for 4 players (yes EXACTLY 4 players), set in a fantasy medieval era. As rival rulers of the realm, players are competing to build the grandest city possible with limited resources. Each has a hidden role, however, which shapes their objectives, capabilities, and scoring strategies on the throne from game to game.

To be a successful ruler, you need to gather resources by making smart deals in blind trades, offering the other players things they really need. Beware: one player is secretly the devil and needs to collect pieces of your soul. Selling a portion (or all) of this precious resource can gain you bountiful riches for expanding your kingdom rapidly, but it also puts you at risk of being exposed and punished by the inquisition. All of this makes for a thrillingly unique heavy euro game with dynamic rounds that keeps you guessing who-is-who, right to the climactic ending when all is revealed.
