My name is David Smith, President and owner of Factory Five Racing. For more than fifteen years we have been at the forefront of the component car industry with our famous roadsters and coupes. In fact today, if you see an AC replica out on the road, it is most likely a Factory Five. While the satisfaction of that accomplishment is tremendous, we wanted to make our own original design. The risks of designing our own supercar were huge. Automotive history has many examples of small companies whose reach exceeded their grasp. Companies like Tucker, Bricklin, DeLorean, Vector, and others had great ideas, but lacked the resources to fully execute. So with great care and planning, we designed the GTM over the process of five years. We designed the GTM because we wanted to. We wanted to build this car when we were in fourth grade drawing pictures of cars while Mrs. Johnson was droning on about long division. We designed the GTM as a direct challenge to people like Ferrari dealers, who with manicured fingernails and straight faces charge people a premium to be on a waiting list, to join an exclusive club of unfriendly people who rarely drive their cars. We designed the GTM out of real pride, patriotism, and conceit. We wanted to show the world what we were truly capable of and we wanted to build a car that would kick everyone else’s arse. In hind sight, I don’t know what I was so worried about. The car has come to symbolize Factory Five’s technological abilities. The car runs with the very fastest supercars on the planet and it looks even better. Every time I drive my GTM, I say to myself, “My gosh! I forgot how fast this car is.”

The GTM Kit - $20,990 The GTM Supercar kit is engineered to be built by a car guy at home with regular tools. The GTM kit gives you everything you need to build your car, except for select running gear parts taken from a 1997-2004 Chevrolet C5 Corvette and a transaxle. The major Corvette parts include the engine, front and rear control arms, suspension/brakes, and fuel tanks. The transaxle used is a Porsche 911 unit or a Mendeola 5 speed.

While our talented engineering staff uses advanced computer CAD designs right up front, our manufacturing team finishes the job by using the right materials, tools and training to build a better part. Not only does Factory Five lead the component car industry in engineering technology, we set the bar just as high in manufacturing. The GTM Supercar is made in the same facility and by the same people who make the Roadster chassis parts. We’ve successfully built over 7,500 Roadster and more than 400 GTM chassis. Our chassis and composite body parts are made right here in the USA with American labor and shipped from our factory in New England, not Taiwan or South Africa! The end result of all this work is that this most American of cars is made by American craftsmen using the right tools, the right materials, the right way.

The chassis assembly area is where the welded frames meet formed aluminum panels and gelcoated composite bodies to be mounted for shipping.


Aluminum Chassis Panels Aluminum Under Glass The Factory Five GTM uses an ultra-strong space frame and is joined by a matrix of aluminum sub-frame panels to complete a true race-car construction. Built on the strong foundation of this tough chassis is a four corner coil-over shock suspension with unequal length control arms and massive Corvette brakes. The composite body rests on top of this chassis and is a separate unstressed assembly.

The entire cockpit, front under bonnet area, engine bay, and splash guards are made from CNC precision-cut 6061-T6 aluminum.

GTM Supercar Frame

Our welded parts are made in the USA with American labor.

Modern Design and Engineering At the very core of the GTM Supercar is a computer designed, ultra-rigid space-frame. The frame is made of mig-welded, high strength mild carbon steel tubing and plate steel. This special design incorporates a low center of gravity, high torsional rigidity, and solid safety features that delivers true supercar performance in a safe and secure vehicle design.

The GTM chassis has the highest torsional rigidity of all Factory Five frames and was designed/tested in CAD and in the real world.

Front nose, doors and rear hatch all hinge from frame, NOT fiberglass body.

Front and rear energy absorbing crumple zones help protect occupants.

CAD designed/ultra-rigid chassis: The GTM frame was the first Factory Five design to fully utilize SolidWorks CAD software. The chassis, welding jig, cut list, bill of materials, and strength testing were all performed on the computer before parts were made.

Pre-welded hinge and latch points, seat belt mounts, shift linkage, steering rack/column, and pedal box assembly make your build a bolt-on exercise.

In-house manufacturing controls help maintain quality and reproducibility. For example, our welders all use the same Millermatic™ 250 MIG welding machines. Standardized equipment is part of a comprehensive quality manufacturing program.

Mid-engine design: The GTM chassis benefits from being a mid-engine design with a low center of gravity and excellent weight distribution. By utilizing a mid-engine layout, the engineering team was able to increase cockpit space with this ideal chassis/engine layout.

Suspension/Brakes Competition Capable and Fully Streetable We’ve already proven the GTM suspension in conditions more demanding than you ever will. We’ve competed in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill for more than 5 years. The GTM was developed and tested on the racetrack, at the dragstrip, at autocrosses, and ultimately in the real world out on the streets. The complement to a lightweight and rigid chassis is a well developed suspension. Our engineering team applied the lessons they learned developing and racing in the Factory Five Challenge Series to design a world-class suspension for the GTM. We selected the tough and lightweight aluminum Corvette control arms and matched them to proprietary FSD* coil-over shocks and springs developed with the team at Koni Shocks. The FSD KONIs deliver razor sharp handling at modest speeds, while maintaining Supercar manners at Supercar pace.

*FSD or frequency selective damping is the latest patented technology from KONI, specifically designed to deliver the ultimate in road holding AND comfort.

Interior/Engine Bay Comfort and Control. Bridge Between Man & Machine. The GTM kit comes with a complete interior including, sport seats, carpeting, headliner, roll cage covers, covered interior panels, door panels, engine cover, rear bulkhead, dash assembly, carbon fiber dash face, complete gauge set, and directional vents for heating and cooling. Covered interior pieces contrast with the carbon fiber gauge pod and functionally elegant layout of the interior. For a car that is only 42” high, the cockpit space is remarkable. Sitting in the car you’ll find a large and quiet cockpit with good front and rear visibility and modern temperature controls. Following a careful entry and exit, you’ll find head-room, legroom and front/rear visibility that is surprisingly well executed. An elegant and simple interior focuses the driver on the serious job at hand.

GTM Supercar Body/Exterior American Performance Automotive Art No matter how fast a sports car is, it has to look good. The GTM has pure supercar lines. Low, menacing and powerful‌ Those are the words that come to mind when one sees the GTM in person for the first time. But looks have to support function. That’s why we developed this shape in the wind tunnel and at speed on countless racetracks over a process of five years.

The GTM curb weight is a remarkable 2,350 lbs. The combination of low wieght, high HP, and ultra rigid chassis delivers supercar performance.

Gen 2 hood vents improve cooling and contribute significanly to downforce.

Optional carbon fiber front splitter increases downforce for race applications. Rear carbon fiber diffuser is standard.

Wind Tunnel Proven: The shape of the GTM was aerodynamic tested at the Langley AFB wind tunnel and the Boeing Aircraft windtunnel. Every part we sell, including front and rear spoilers, rear diffuser, under-car aluminum sheeting, front hood vents, and functional roof scoop were optimized for safe down force.

Production car details abound on the GTM with items like hinged rear glass hatch, power glass side windows, and closed head lamp buckets.

Recommended for experienced road racers and custom fabricators. This wing was wind tunnel tested on a Factory Five GTM and generated over 400 lbs. of down force. Adjustable angle and standoffs/feet included. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.

26144 GTM Carbon Fiber Front Splitter: This is a high quality carbon fiber front-end splitter. The splitter rivets to the underside of the nose and creates down force by taking advantage of the higher pressure zone created in front of the car at speed.

26097 GTM Roof Scoop: The roof scoop is made of fiberglass and vinylester resin finished in a sandable gel-coat. In order for it to cool the engine bay as designed, a ½” x 12” slot can be cut at the back of the roof into the engine bay to allow air flow. Requires body work.

26069 GTM Fender Louver Set: These fender vents allow air pressure in the wheel well to escape, reducing frontal lift at high speeds. Made specifically for the GTM in house, these composite parts are delivered in a sandable gel coat finish. Not recommended for street use.
