URBAN REGENERATION OF THE “EX OGR” Bologna, Laboratory of architectural design IV, 2021 partners: Lorenzo Del chierico, Gulce Tufan, Gregorio Gabbrielli supervisor: prof. Nicola Marzot

The ex-OGR industrial area is a large infrastructure which was originally dedicated to train maintenance, a large production centre for Bologna but also an alienating presence in the Ravone district. The idea of regenerating this area therefore stems from the “city by parts”, in which, as in Rossi’s conception, the local parts are each architecturally characterised and clearly defined. Here, however, we have also tried to focus on what happens between the parts, that is, the “transition areas”, and so we can talk about a new generation infrastructure, no longer the original one, developed according to an incremental approach, which develops a new concept of work space divided into production, display and application.

URBAN REGENERATION OF THE “CASERMA TITO” Sarajevo, Laboratory of architectural design III, 2019 partners: Federico M. Polani, Silvia Zimarino supervisor: prof. Marcello Marchesini

18

The development of the city di Sarajevo has a linear course along the river, and this conformation allows the definition of an “assembled landscape” of individual independent parts, fragments, which live as autonomous figures within the totality of the urban context. The compromise lies in finding and reinforcing the links that allow the connection between the parts to be experienced in a more spontaneous and natural way. Analysing the intervention area, it was decided that the matrix of the project would be the intersection of two urban meshes: one of the barracks and the second of the city rotated by 15 degrees, the intersection of these two meshes generated a path that took the form of a portico. This element then became the generator of architecture just like the first settlements along the river banks.

The old Casaralta factories are being reused as a hydroponic farm in urban areas, with part of the produce going to the market in front of them and the remainder for export.

“The open block” was created by studying the work of Jane Jacobs and trying to update it in a place where properties are divided into closely spaced private lots of similar size, divided into blocks. So what we propose is to open up the blocks internally and manage the space more efficiently with car parks, green areas and paths.

The proposal for “Civico 59”, a disused industrial building, is the creation of a theatre and an exhibition space that can interact on certain occasions through staging and performances.
