CLUB CLOSURES

A Message from your General Manager

My how time flies when you’re having fun! It’s hard to believe my thirteen-year anniversary as your club manager has already come and gone As it was a Monday (March 11), I celebrated by grilling myself a juicy steak, and paired it with a nice bottle of red wine.

Even though winters on Figure 8 Island can be occasionally very quiet, I want you all to know it’s never lonely and never boring. I find it to be a beautiful time to be at the beach in southern North Carolina The members who suffer from “life on the island” throughout the year, and those of you who’ve been popping in for a few days here and there, I’m certain appreciate the burden of Figure 8 Island winters Your fellowship, and that of our scaled down staff, certainly make it fun and keep it warm.

Your management team has been hard at work all winter long, planning many new and exciting offerings to tempt you and spoil you this spring As customary, Easter week marks the blossoming of a new season of “intense rest and relaxation,” augmented with lots of nourishment and good cheer For more information about all of the great events and services, please see the numerous promotional features throughout this issue of Shorelines

As further proof of the fertile possibilities that winter brings, please join me in welcoming these new members that have joined our club family since the first of the year:

Bullard, Kyle & Courtney (Charlotte, NC)

Langford, Ransom & Courtney (New Canaan, CT)

Robbins, Charles & Paige (Suwanee, GA)

Williams, Robert Jr & Joanna (New Canaan, CT)

Wood, Edward III (Atlanta, GA)

I would also like to welcome Leann Thomas as the Club’s new Events Director. As you will see in the Staff Spotlight (page 5), Leann is highly qualified and comes out of the gate with familiarity with our members, and our region

The club will be closed for dinner the following dates for private events:

APRIL 20th

Lastly, I am proud to announce the promotion of two of our most tenured Service staff members. Please join me in congratulating Vivian Yun as our new Banquet Service Manager, and Daniel Beshai as our new Ala Carte Service Manager. Over the past five years, both Vivian and Daniel have served the membership and fellow staff with enthusiasm and professionalism and are deserving of this advancement.

For the staff, we are excited about the approach of spring and the 2024 season, and look forward to seeing you soon
