HTTP Persistent Connections More commonly known as HTTP Keepalives, Persistent Connections are a performance enhancement introduced in HTTP v1.1. They allow multiple requests and responses to be sent and received (one after the other) over the same persistent TCP connection, rather than a new connection being established for each request and response transaction. Without Persistent Connections, every single request results in a TCP connection being established and then closed, as follows;
