Eyüp Türbesi Fatih Vakfiyesi gereğince, Cuma geceleri açık bulunur ve Kur’ân okunurdu. Bu gelenek Fatih Sultan Mehmed’ten kalmadır. Pazartesi geceleri açılmasını Çorlu Ali Paşa, Kadir gecesinde açılmasını da Sadrazam Hafız İsmail Paşa sağlamıştır. Caminin iç avlusundaki büyük çınarları çevreleyen Sultan III. Selim tarafından yaptırılmış olan demir parmaklığın dört köşesindeki çeşmelere “Hacet Çeşmeleri” veya “Kısmet Çeşmeleri” adı verilmektedir. İstanbul’da yaşayan veya İstanbul’a bir müddet için gelen herkes mutlaka Eyüp Sultan Türbesi’ni ziyaret etmiştir. Türbeler kapatıldıktan sonra bile hacet penceresi önünde dua etmek suretiyle Eyüp Sultan’ı dışarıdan ziyaret edenlerin sayısı pek çoktur. Ziyaret etmek için belirli gün ve saati beklemeden Eyüp Sultan’ı isteyen, istediği zaman ziyaret edebilmektedirler. Ancak Cuma günleri, Kadir ve Arife gün ve geceleri ziyaretçiler artar. İstanbul’da ölen devlet adamlarından, saray mensuplarından hatta zengin şehirli lerden çoğu, cenazelerinin Eyüp sultan türbesi civarına gömülmesini istemişlerdir. Çün kü Eyüp Sultan Camii minarelerinde okunan ezan sesinin işitildiği yerlerde gömülü olan müslümanların kabir azabından kurtulacakları inancı halk arasında yerleşmiş bir inanıştır. Eyüp Sultan Türbesi yakın zamanda kısmî bir onarım geçirdi. Eyüp Sultan Türbesi halen, aslî özellikleri korunarak kapsamlı bir restorasyona tâbi tutulmuştur.
In accordance with the decision of the Eyüp Tomb’s Fatih Foundation, the tomb would be open on Friday evenings and the Koran would be recited. This tradition goes back to Fatih Sultan Mehmed. It was Çorlu Ali Paşa, who arranged the tomb to be open on Mondays and Sadrazam Hafız İsmail Paşa (the grand vizier), who asked it to stay open on the Holly Night of Power. The fountains by built Sultan Selim III. located on the four corners of the metal railings enclosing the huge plane tree in the courtyard of the mosque are known to as “Necessity Fountain” and “Fortune Fountain”. The people who live İstanbul or visit İstanbul for a short time are sure to visit Eyüp Sultan tomb. Even after the shutting down of tombs, there are still many people who visit Eyüp Sultan without entering Eyüp Sultan praying in front of the Necessity Fountain. Any people can visit the tomb any time they wish without having to wait the visit time and day. However, there are more visitors on Friday evenings, the Night of Power and on the eve of religious days. The statesmen, the royal family members and the wealthy people who passed away in İstanbul have always wished to be buried close to Eyüp Sultan tomb. It is because of the common conviction that the people buried within the distance where the call to prayer from Eyüp Sultan Mosque can easily be heard will be saved from the grave agony. Eyüp Sultan Tomb has recently undergone a partial repair. The Tomb is currently being restored comprehensively with its primary architectural characteristics preserved.
