Elephant Parade

Noah’s Ark Zoo is hosting a herd of 26 hand painted unique life size baby Elephant Sculptures. It forms a trail over the 100 acres of North Somerset countryside combining art, conservation, education and lots of fun. The Parade aims to raise awareness and funds for elephant conservation and, Mosha’s care. At just 7 months old, Mosha the Asian elephant stepped on a landmine and lost a leg. Music, Mud, Mayhem

A celebration of festivals and fetes. This star-studded exhibition in the Somerset Rural Life Museum brings together photographs from 20 years of the iconic Glastonbury Festival. The images have been captured by Somerset-based photographer Jason Bryant. His personal favourites have been chosen for the exhibition marking the return of this year’s live festival. More than 50 iconic performances, from 1997 to present day.

Cribbs Summer Beach

Dress Code: Fashion Stories from the Box

Exhibition dedicated to fashion, highlights from Plymouth’s The Box’s costume and textile collection will be displayed alongside paintings, drawings, film and archival material to tell important local and international stories about fashion and clothing. ‘Wed in the Westcountry’

Wedding Dress exhibition in the house at Forde Abbey from 1940’s through to the present day. The exhibition explores how gown styles and materials have changed over the decades, including those borrowed and adapted in wartime. Each dress has a story to tell about the bride, time and place. WOWFest : Wells Orchestral Weekend

A series of free concerts in Wells featuring 150 young musicians. The Opening Ceremony will take place in Cedars Hall at 4pm on Friday with music for big bands of up to 40 musicians. On Saturday Wells Cathedral will host a special concert for Unicef Ukraine, with works for choir and orchestra featuring the especially formed WOWFest Community Chorus. Young musicians will perform picnic concerts from 4pm on Sunday in the Bishop’s Palace Gardens. The Way We Were

Step back in time and celebrate rural life surrounding a country station in the 1930’s – 1950’s on the station of East Somerset Railway. Don a period costume and join in the atmosphere of yesteryear with costumed promenaders. Enjoy live music, Punch and Judy, wartime re-enactment groups, vintage military and civilian vehicles and traditional children’s games. Trains run on the hour from 11am to 2pm and 3.30pm.

Medieval Weekend

Immerse yourself in 800 years of history at the Bishop’s Palace, Wells. Encamped in the ruins of the Great Hall, you’ll discover historical re-enactment group and medieval weapons experts Bowlore. They will be giving lively displays throughout the day, with demonstrations, and choreographed combat. Make your way to The Black Dog, the weapons and armour tent, to get a glimpse of Medieval life. Members of the troupe will be on hand throughout the day to share their expertise and answer questions. Free with normal admission.

Axbridge Pageant

Some 15 scenes take the community play from Romano-Britain and the town’s (very dead) first recorded inhabitant to the 21st century via the Saxons, the Normans, the Tudors and the Victorians. With spectacular set pieces; fights,riots and tragedy dramatised with poetry, music and historic re-enactment and many lighter moments. Sky Safari at Longleat

A spectacular host of hot air balloons will take to the skies over the Longleat Estate in their very own hot air balloon festival – the biggest annual gathering of balloons in the UK. Led by Longleat’s own lion shaped balloon there will also be a menagerie of special animal shapes including a koala, cheetah, wolf, parrot, panther and owl. You’ll get breath-taking views (and pictures) during the mass launches and tethered displays. Followed in the evenings, at 7.45pm, by a stunning night glow with a selection of favourite balloons which fire their burners up to an amazing soundtrack.

Jane Austen Festival

Visit Bath during the Jane Austen Festival for an immersive Regency experience. Walk alongside 500 costumed Jane Austen fans in the spectacular, opening Grand Regency Costumed Promenade. It beings at the Holburne Museum and continues across Pulteney Bridge, past many landmarks in central Bath. Throughout the rest of the festival, join other Jane Austen fans on guided walks and day trips, sit back and enjoy talks, music recitals and concerts or get hands on at workshops and dance classes. Made to Measure presents an evening of war-time themed nostalgia on board East Somerset Railway’s dining train. The exciting story will be played out in the first carriage and repeated in the second carriage during the 2 mile line from Cranmore Station to Mendip Vale. At the end of the track, passengers can disembark and watch more of the play on the platform. Step back on the train and head back to Cranmore where a denouncement will take place.
