Recovery, relaxation, leisure. Listen to music, chat, natter, flick through a magazine, or just hang out - all are part of what makes a day worthwhile. The more time young people spend in school, the more important it is to have spaces where these 'in-between' activities are possible. A break to enjoy!

We've called this space 'Chill-out' as a welcoming, comfortable name that reflects exactly what we wanted to achieve - opting for furniture with a homely, familiar appearance that doesn't immediately conjure thoughts of school.

Bean bags, low tables and mobile shelving, as well as more playful items such as the stacking stones and padded mats, help create cosy corners or inviting islands where pupils can meet and talk.

It's clear the furniture and cushions need to be tough and easy to maintain, but also practical and highly attractive. An often contradictory challenge, but one we've proven can work!
