CITT/ICTS Rendez-vous 2007 August 16 -19 2007 Roundhouse Centre , Vancouver, BC Monday August 13 Vectorworks I for Beginners (Off-site at Douglas College, New Westminster) Instructor: Ross Nichol - This workshop will cover the basics of VectorWorks. We will begin with a general introduction to the on-screen environment and then move on to basic exercises. The afternoon will focus on a ground plan and elevations. We will cover page set-up, drawing tools, attributes, constraints, layers and symbols. This session is will focus on foundation skills but can be adjusted to the needs of the participants. Tuesday August 14 Vectorworks II Advanced (Off-site at Douglas College, New Westminster) Instructor: Ross Nichol - The day will be divided into two topics. The morning will look at 3D including walls, symbols, stairs and layer links. The afternoon will be an introduction to Spotlight, VectorWorks’ lighting package. We will cover instrument insertion, labeling, and 3D beam projection. This class is recommended for those with previous experience, but is manageable for some beginners. Sponsored by PAXAR Technologies and Douglas College Supervisory Skills with Michelle MacIntosh (Roundhouse Centre) - You run crews everyday but were you ever really trained to be a supervisor? We’ve all been thrown into jobs as Managers and Supervisors without much, if any, formal training. Highly acclaimed in Toronto, this daylong workshop will offer a more in-depth view of some of the simple and often over looked DO’S and DON’TS of being a great leader.

Vancouver Island Theatre Tour The Old, The New & The Renewed A day-visit of the Island’s finest theatres, with stops at Royal Theatre and The Belfry Theatre in Victoria and at The Port Theatre in Nanaimo. The day starts with an early harbour-to-harbour flight where an awaiting luxury Limo bus will pick up the delegates and tour Beacon Hill Park, the waterfront and downtown Victoria on their the way to the Belfry and the Royal theatre. After lunch at the Spinnakers Gastro Brew Pub, the Limo bus will cruise the highway en route for Nanaimo with stops at Malahat summit and Ladysmith before reaching the Port Theatre. The day will wrap up with a Loading Dock BBQ followed by a ferry ride back to Vancouver. CITT/ICTS Education Forum - The Education Forum offers an opportunity to discuss issues, techniques and results as they relate to educational programs that prepare students to work in the live performance industry. This day is open to all that are interested in teaching and learning and who are willing to share their techniques and ideas. This forum is for you to share your experience and your ideas with students, educators and industry. This year Education Forum will greet international guests from the OISTAT Education Commission. Sponsored by Mirvish Productions and University of British Columbia The theme of the forum this year is the effectiveness of our department productions as a tool for teaching. - Who drives our season? -H ow do the design and production students benefit? - How are they financed, staffed and promoted? - How are the students selected and evaluated? - How do other countries deal with these issues?

On the right track? Panel Discussion Producing productions is the engine that drives most of the learning opportunities in our theatre schools. We will examine this standard practice and the relationship between performance, technical production and design as they relate to the learning environment.
