Countdown To Curtains Up ADVERTISING FEATURE

O

n Monday, May 21 (a mere month away!) Second Stage begins with Flywheel, Shyster & Flywheel, the 1932 radio show that introduced the Marx Brothers to America. This hilarious comedy gives historical context to Uncle Jacques’ Symphony, coming soon to our main stage. Last season, our patrons loved Say Goodnight, Gracie and visiting with George Burns as created by Joel Rooks. In that show, George Burns made reference to some kids named Arthur, Leonard, and Julius who “you knew as Groucho, Harpo and Chico.” This season, we bring the antics of the Marx Brothers to our stage. On May 20 from 12-2pm, all are invited to our Meet The Mezzanine community party celebrating our new space and season. We’ll give tours of the theatre, as well as the technical booth and backstage areas, usually off-limits to the audience. Artistic Director Roy Steinberg will greet everyone and talk about the upcoming season. You’ll also learn about signing up your children or grandchildren for Discovery Summer Theatre Camp. The theatre has a marvelous program to help children learn to trust their instincts and gain confidence in speaking and performing before others, giving them a cultural knowledge that will benefit them for life. This year we’ve hired a specialist who has run the Milton Hershey Theatre Department for 17 years. She’ll bring popular culture to Moliere, Shakespeare, Ibsen, and Chekhov. Her individualized attention to each child has us dividing
