SPRING AND SUMMER PROGRAMS SUMMER CAMPS, TRIPS & MORE

MULTI-SEASON PROGRAMS SPRING BOWLING - EXETER BOWLING LANES

Drop the Wii and get off that couch! Come participate in one of the country’s oldest pastimes enjoyed for generations. Bowling is an aerobic type of physical exercise, similar to walking with free weights. Bowling helps in burning calories and works muscle groups not usually exercised. The flexing and stretching in bowling works tendons, joints, ligaments, and muscles in the arms and promotes weight loss. Apart from the physical benefits, it also has psychosocial benefits, strengthening friendships or creating new ones in groups. Exeter Bowling Lane has been hosting bowling since 1946 and has become a place for family, friends & co-workers to interact and have fun. Rob Ficara, Sr., 30 year owner of Exeter Bowling Lanes, former pro bowler and NH State Champ is the instructor. REGISTRATION: Registration is open to Exeter and sur-

rounding towns, on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration accepted at the Recreation Office during our business hours, on-line, mail or fax. Payment must be paid at the time of registration and a medical release form must be completed. EQUIPMENT: All equipment is provided. COYOTE CLUB WILDERNESS PROGRAM

We believe that each child has a gift, which is often revealed through wildlife observation, awareness exercises and primitive skill exploration. It is our hope that we will be able to recognize and nurture that gift, and encourage the child to further develop and honor those unique abilities, strengths and talents we all possess. Children involved in nature-based education programs often experience a deeper sense of self respect, self esteem and a strengthening of their connection to the natural world. SWIMMING LESSONS O

ur classes are 45 minutes and will have 12 children per class. Our classes are supervised by at least one certified WSI and are taught by our lifeguard staff. Most have extensive competitive swimming backgrounds. There either 1 or 2 instructors for each class and it may vary from day to day based on days off etc. Please note that although ARC recommends that instructors be in the water, only for Levels 1 and 2. We do provide some in-water instruction for Level 3 as well. Levels 4, 5 and 6 instructors are generally NOT in the water. Things to remember when registering: • We cannot properly place your child in a class for you. Realistically consider where your child finished last summer before registering. It is very difficult to get everyone moved to the perfect class once the rosters are full. • Do not “reach” by putting your child in a class above their head because they will not have the success you would like to see. • We generally fill Session 2 before the summer starts so if you want to register for the second session do it early. If you think your child is close to passing a level register for the next level up for the second session, if not do not “reach”.

Registration Begins Monday, 3/7/16 at 8:15 AM Exeter Residents only for the first 24 hours.

JULY 21 — 6:00PM-8:00 PM CHRIS MACKAY & THE TONE SHIFTERS (blues, rock, zydeco): Everyone loved them in 2012 when they played our series and the Powder Keg. They are back again for another show. In 2013 they were nominated for a New England Music Award and a regional Whailie Award in two categories for best Rock/Country/Blues. With Chris playing wash board and percussion to add a little flavor, the Tone Shifters have crafted their own unique style that will get you up on your feet and keep you rockin' ! A mighty unit that fuses rock, rockabilly and honkytonk attitudes in riotous fashion.

Each year our series showcases high quality artists featuring a variety of genres of music. In 2016 six of our bands have never performed in Exeter before. We are excited about the new artists and diversity. It’s one of Exeter’s best summer traditions...so pack up a picnic with your friends and family, and come celebrate summer and some great free music.

JUNE 16 — 6:00PM-8:00 PM KENNY BROTHERS BAND (Americana Jam music): The Kenny Brothers Band is an improvisational Americana rock jam band. A local band coming from Stratham they incorporate original music with covers that include Phish, The Band and the Grateful Dead to name a few. The three brothers have been evolving and perfecting their sound for more than five years. Their grooved base music is very tight, yet has a genuine flow and ease, which makes it fascinating to hear and feel. Their music incorporates jazz, funk, and the jam band mentality to form an organic sound that is their own.

JUNE 23 — 6:00PM-8:00 PM PETE KILPATRICK BAND (rock): Pete Kilpatrick hails from northeast, Portland, Maine. He has been writing, recording, and performing regularly since 2002 and has released six independent albums to date. Pete has been named Maine’s best act four times in the Portland Best Music Awards and has performed over 1,200 shows since he began his career, sharing the stage with such notable acts as Dave Matthews Band, David Gray, Jason Mraz, Ray Lamontagne, Guster, Amos Lee, Matisyahu, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals among others.

JUNE 30 — 6:00PM-8:00 PM SOUNDS CLEVER AND THE VALLEY HORNS (Funk, Blues, Swing): The band hails from the White Mountains of NH near North Conway. They play a great blend of pop and funky music that gets people moving and keeps them entertained. Their use of two saxophone players gives them a great sound. They have an eclectic mix of cover tunes and unique arrangements of instantly recognizable tunes complimented by several original songs.

JULY 7 — 6:00PM-8:00 PM CLUB SODA BAND (oldies): Club Soda is a four piece that has over 30 years’ experience entertaining audiences of all kinds throughout New England. They do the " Best Of" "Top 40" hits from the 50s to today. All four Club Soda members are lead vocalists with voices that can cover any range and style with harmonies layered throughout every song. Their powerful vocals definitely show case the band's talent, on top of wonderfully executed instrumentation.

JULY 14 — 6:00PM-8:00 PM STRAY DOG BAND (covers of all your favorites): In the summer of 2014, Exeter native Mark Dagostino joined the band as Stray Dog’s new lead singer. Audiences are blown away by the diversity of Stray Dog’s sound. Part of the fun is that Stray Dog caters to lots of different tastes, while avoiding the generic lack detail that so many “cover bands” bring to the table. A Stray Dog time is a Good Time—a show that’s gets audiences on the dance floor and leaves everyone asking for more.

JULY 16 — 6:45PM-8:45 PM

FIREWORKS, 8:45PM

RYAN MCHUGH BAND (pop): Ryan McHugh is among the busiest musicians in the New England Area. He provides live music from all genres 5 nights a week. From live band karaoke to weddings and corporate events, the Ryan McHugh Band is fun for all ages. They play the Top 40 hits from today and spanning 5 previous decades. Ryan hails from the south shore of Massachusetts and has been playing music professionally for over 18 years. Ryan plays guitar and sings a wide, eclectic range of styles from modern rock to folk to R & B to punk to Indie Rock and to classic favorites.

JULY 28 — 6:00PM-8:00 PM

DOUBLE FEATURE, MOVIE, 8:15PM

BIG NOTE BIG BAND (the sounds of big band music): Love to hear the Big Band sounds from days gone by? Here is your chance. Big Note is full-size, 17 piece big band playing classic songs from the Swing Era and also more modern pieces. They also feature a killer vocalist, Denise Therrien, who in addition to a great voice has a unique likability factor with audiences. Curt Mackail from Exeter is also in this band.

ADOPT-A GARDEN The Adopt-A-Garden Program is a collaborative effort shared by the Parks and Recreation Department and many civic and business organizations, as well as many caring townsfolks. If you have an interest in working outside in the fresh air and sunshine, and have time to spare, perhaps you would be interested in "Adopting A Garden". There are a few gardens and flowerbeds in need of some tender loving care. If you are physically able to work pulling weeds, planting and replanting plants, and in general just maintaining a garden flower bed, you can volunteer to help maintain a garden. You can make your own schedule, all we ask is that you come regularly to keep the beds looking nice. You can also bring a friend! Its goal is to keep Exeter a beautiful place to live and visit. Our department will buy the flowers and do the mulching in the spring. Sound like it might be for you? Please call.
