In recent years, Nicole Kidman has become synonymous with prestigious television fiction, typically set in an aristocratic context, with rarefied tones. There is a lot of tension, but also a lot of mannerism, in the luxurious atmospheres in which Nicole acts; she adapts with ease to the directors’ wishes, as befits an actress of her caliber, and at the same time she’s able to synthesize the contradictions of her characters in her own gorgeous body, bringing them coherently to catharsis. From the luxurious aristocratic locations on Manhattan's Upper East Side of The Undoing (where she interprets Grace, a renowned therapist trapped in her husband's – an extraordinary Hugh Grant – web of lies), to the exclusive Tranquillum House spa of Nine Perfect Strangers (where she plays Masha, a Russian-American wellness guru who hovers between glittering pools and the sugar-free smoothies given to her troubled customers); then to Monterey, California for the Big Little Lies series, where she plays Celeste, a former lawyer who has a troubled relationship with her husband (Alexander Skarsgård). This is Nicole's specialty: giving life to inscrutable, icy women, almost bordering on the supernatural. One wonders how she, who is bubbly and likeable in person, manages to interpret characters so veiledly ambiguous. Per me è stato un ritorno alle origini”. Nella vita di Nicole non c’è solo il lavoro, c’è la famiglia, con cui condivide un amore smisurato per l’oceano: “Sono una creatura marina, amo nuotare e fare surf… sono attività incredibilmente rilassanti! E ho un segreto: ogni giorno, cerco di guardare il mondo con occhi sempre diversi, come non fossi io; che sia per questo che scelgo personaggi così lontani da me?”.
