ICONIC: EVOKE Contemporary presents some of the most iconic works from its own prestigious roster and invited guest artists. Bringing together important works by celebrated artists including monumental sculpture by Javier Marín is amongst the highlights of this extravagant launch of the summer season in Santa Fe.

This exhibition emphasizes works in a variety of media that display superlative examples of the twenty exhibiting artists’ work each depicting their unique interpretation of iconic imagery. Headliner for the exhibition is Javier Marín’s Cabeza de Mujer which is an iconic monumental of a classical female head in bronze with the artist’s distinctive contemporary edge. Over the last 30 years Marín has developed an impressive career, holding over 70 solo exhibitions and more than 200 collective shows in Mexico, the USA, Canada, and several countries in South America, Asia and Europe. His artwork can be found in numerous public collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 2008 Marín was honored with top prize at the Third International Beijing Biennial and was awarded a prestigious project for the Zacatecas Cathedral (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Mexico. In 2010 his monumental altarpiece in Zacatecas was unveiled and he also presented sculptures in Shanghai (World Expo 2010) and Brussels (Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium).

EVOKE Contemporary reunites with highly respected colleague Koplin Del Rio Gallery in collaborative curation of ICONIC. Artists presented by Koplin Del Rio, who has recently moved and merged forces with Prographica in Seattle, include Eric Beltz, F. Scott Hess and Peter Zokosky.
