A graffiti by the street artist, Banksy showing a man asking for a life change not for charity (Keep your coins).

5

Students’ proposals on Goal 2

 We could organise projects or events to raise awareness about food waste in our societies vs the millions of starving people around the world.

 Take part in food gatherings for poor families or homeless people organised by charities.  Fight for the right of everyone to nutritious food by posting articles/facts/images of the effects of malnutrition on people’s health and livelihood to our school website or to social media. (Klaidi, Paolo, Nikos, Maria, Aggelina, Katerina GR)  support farmers → WWOOF  fight for a law that forces shops to distribute leftover food to people in need (Carla, Carlotta) GE

6

Goal 3. Good health Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

A part of an installation with video performance by the Greek artists, Elli Griva and Fanis Logothetis. Chosen because it shows the fragility of human health and wellbeing.

7

Students’ proposals on Goal 3

 We can promote good health and well- being by giving out leaflets with guidelines about health matters.  We could invite experts at school to give lectures about the importance of healthy lifestyles.  We should write protest letters to the ministry of education and ask for the introduction of ‘Health and well -being’ as a subject in the school syllabus . (Periklis, Alex, Aggelos, Natalia, Nefeli, Thomas, GR)  workshops for schools about the importance of healthy food → only sell healthy food in canteen  donate money for charities that build hospitals and train doctors (Lukas, Tim) GE

8

Goal 4. Quality Education Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Drawing by Heinrich Christian Wilhelm Busch (1832 – 1908), a German humorist, poet, illustrator, and painter.

9

Students’ proposals on Goal 4  Our future depends on our education so we should always fight for the right to quality and free education for all. We need free books and equipment, qualified teachers and nice school environment. But since this is not the case for all, we should organise Special Awareness days with speeches and presentations about quality education all over the world.  We should often organise class meetings and spot out what is wrong and make proposals to our headmistress and teachers for how things can improve in our school. Our voice for education counts too! (Irene, Danae,Vaggelis,Paul,Alex X.) GR  donate books  families with more money give a bit more so poorer students can also take part in school activities

(Marvin, Till) GE

10

Goal 5. Gender Equality Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

“EQUAL MEANS EQUAL” a neon sculpture by Indira Cesarine ,a multimedia artist.

11

Students’ proposals on Goal 5  Celebrate the International Women’s Day on 8 March by organising presentations in our school about gender inequalities around the world and by showing statistics about continuing cases of discrimination, violence, sexual, harassment, limited job opportunities even in our country.  Organise a class meeting and encourage girls to voice their concerns and boys to express their opinions. (Nefeli.S, Alex.B , Periklis.N, Angelos.B, Natalia P, Thomas.B)

 spread the idea of girls-/boys-day worldwide → lets students test out jobs that are “only for men/ women” for a day (e.g. engineers for girls)  better childcare and awareness on girls’ mistreatment worldwide (Maylin, Lisa) GE

12

Goal 6. Clean water and Sanitation Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

Street Art: This is an image of a boy hoping for clean water to come from a storm drain(unknown artist)

13

Students’ proposals on Goal 6 Organise school campaigns on the importance of water saving and sanitation and make a list of ways we can do that. Get involved in projects that deal with the water resources worldwide and how human activities can stop contaminating water supplies.

(Irene, Danae,Vaggelis,Paul,Alex X.) GR put up signs in school toilets of how to save water organise an action day for water which informs people about the importance of water (Jermain, Maxim) GE

14

Goal 7. Affordable and Clean energy Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

Drawing by Cinyee Chiu, a Taiwanese artist, showing how a village can be benefitted by a wind farm.

15

Students’ proposals on Goal 7 

we could create posters with pictures of renewable

sources of energy such as panels, wind turbines, geothermal and biomass installations and hang them on school walls  inform the school community about the benefits of affordable and clean energy through posts to the students’ magazine or the school’s website or even the social media.  join an Etwinning project called “Eco-schools in action for energy saving”, become aware and organise online campaigns with our Polish, German and Spanish partners!  Ask for the municipalities to install solar panels on the school roof so that our school becomes energy sufficient (Eva, Marieta, Estela,Alex B, Alex P, Angelos, GR)  only use the energy we really need (eg. turn off lights/ computers, etc.)  organise a charity walk and collect money for solar panels for the school (Kathrin, Bijou) GE

16

Goal 8. Good jobs and economic growth Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

Large scale mural still in progress in Manhattan to commemorate the 100 anniversary of ILO (International Labour Organization). In collaboration with Street Art for Mankind and the United Nations.

17

Students’ proposals on Goal 8  Invite experts such as economists or policy makers, local authorities members to our school to inform us about employment opportunities, working rights, skills needed for jobs market prospects etc.  As citizens of tomorrow, we must know all about the decent work opportunities so we can ask teachers to help us do some research through projects or workshops. (Eva, Marieta, Estela,Alex B, Alex P, Angelos, GR)  fight for minimum wage for everybody  find out about policies of different parties that stand for good economic growth → vote for them in future (Cansu, Tugba, Isabella) GE

18

Goal 9. Innovation and infrastructure Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

Poster of the 1927 film ‘Metropolis by Fritz Lang showing a

19

futuristic city.

Students’ proposals on Goal 9 make a research on what type of infrastructure and industrialization exists in our country, how many job positions are offered, what levels of C02 emissions are released and if there are any innovation plans by the governments. write a letter about your future concerns related to lack of economic growth in your country and post it to the media. The letter will start: ‘’Dear Prime Minister’’ and will end ‘’A concerned citizen of tomorrow’’. (Eva, Marieta, Estela,Alex B, Alex P, Angelos, GR) work on projects with our partner Siemens join extracurricular activities that work on these ideas (e.g. robotics) (Mahir, Ardahan) GE

20

Goal 10. Reduced Inequalities Reduce inequality within and among countries

‘Who owns what’ is an artwork by Barbara Kruger, an American conceptual artist and collagist. Tate Modern

21

Students’ proposals on Goal 10  Surf the net to find out interviews of people who were victims of a sort of inequality or discrimination and read them in class to raise awareness.  We could write a letter as a school class to a politician and ask what measures governments take to reduce inequalities as regards income, job opportunities, education and health care for all. This perhaps can put some kind of pressure to look at the matter more seriously. (Eva, Marieta, Estela,Alex B, Alex P, Angelos, GR)  organise a workshop to inform people about different religions/ sexual orientations, etc. → the more people know about something, the less likely they are to discriminate (Deniz, Ardahan) GE

22

Goal 11. Sustainable cities and communities Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

‘The forest City’ is the Winner of the second place prize in an international design competition, “Skylines across the world look the same—usually a couple of iconic towers in the center surrounded by lots of lesser quality buildings, which all resemble each other,” said Chris Bosse, director of LAVA. “Here we have designed an inverse city skyline where the icon of the city is a public space, not an object/building. Our central space is a Rainforest Valley and demonstrates the equation: PEOPLE = CITY. From an object to a place.”

23

Students’ proposals on Goal 11  Participate in environmental school projects like our etwinning project and become aware of how our green attitudes such as using bicycles instead of cars, saving energy, recycling etc can make our cities more sustainable.  Go around our neighbourhood and spot out what works and what doesn’t. Is there enough green? are the streets clean? are there recycling bins? is there safety? Then write a letter to the municipalities and ask them to take measures. (Alex, Pavlos, Danah, Irene, Vaggelis) GR 

it is important to keep cities clean → promote

good waste collection system like Barcelona

support cultural projects (Tim, Lukas) GE

24

Goal 12. Responsible Consumption Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

"Vida Tรณxica" (Toxic Life) is a series of fourteen sculptures created by the Catalan artist Alvaro Soler Arpa with animal bones and plastic waste. The sculptures emphasize the irresponsible human consumption and the human impact of runaway plastic pollution on ecosystems and individual animals.

25

Students’ proposals on Goal 12 Make leaflets with tips for responsible consumption as regards food, energy, clothes, fuels, water. Raise awareness about the effects of overconsumption on the environment by joining school projects related to the subject. Post articles as regards the harmful effects of some business on environment to social media And of course Reduce-Reuse- Recycle (Nefeli.S, Alex.B , Periklis.N , Angelos.B , Natalia P , Thomas.B)

recycle! make a list of businesses that work responsible (eg environmentally friendly, good working conditions) and spread the list around school; maybe also negative list (Carla, Carlotta) GE

26

Goal 13. Climate Action Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

‘Global conference on Climate change. The artist Issac Cordal offers us a new perspective through his provocative series of tiny cement sculptures that challenge our views of society. Thoughtfully arranged without the need for exposition, these miniaturized scenes are often arranged as site-specific street art interventions.

27

Students’ proposals on Goal 13  We can invite experts to talk about the consequences of the climate change in our lives.  We can make posters with the latest environmental disasters in our countries due to climate change and hang them on school walls.  We can prepare a speech about the urgent need of climate action and deliver it in a radio programme or in a school gathering.  Take part in the School Strike 4 Climate demonstration (Klaidi, Paolo, Nikos, Maria, Aggelina, Katerina GR)  use bike instead of car  switch off your electronic devices when you don’t use them (Annika, Annika) GE

28

Goal 14.Life below water Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

Painting by Tim Tewinkel showing the origin of life in the sea. If the marine ecosystem is destroyed, human life will vanish too.

29

Students’ proposals on Goal 14  We could take part in volunteer beach clean-ups during summer days so as to reduce pollution.  We can organise campaigns to promote the idea of making ocean-friendly choices when buying fish and become aware of certified products. Besides,we should spread the message about the importance of marine life. (Nefeli.S, Alex.B Periklis.N Angelos.B Natalia P, Thomas.B) 

make sure you throw away/ recycle your waste →

against plastics in ocean  use less plastic  buy sustainably caught fish (Lisa, Maylin) GE

30

Goal 15. Life on Land Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

Alexis Rockman’s “Tree of Extinction,” 2018, which includes Dimetrodon, extinct 242 million years ago; Elkhorn coral, critically endangered; Dodo, the last of which was killed in Mauritius in 1681; Thylacine, extinct Tasmania, 1936; Bornean Orangutan, critically endangered

31

Students’ proposals on Goal 15  We can organise school eco-tourism trips and join reforestation or tree-planting activities.  Take part in projects about the protection of ecosystems, biodiversity and wild life.  Take up green attitudes such as recycling, reasonable consumption, energy saving. (Klaidi, Paolo, Nikos, Maria, Aggelina, Katerina GR)  build an insect hotel  support our school beekeeper  plant more flowers in school (Cansu, Tguba, Isabella) GE

32

Goal 16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

Sculpture of Justice on the Law courts, Palace of justice, Karlsplatz, city centre, Munich, Upper Bavaria, Germany, Europe

33

Students’ proposals on Goal 16  Organise school events to talk about the importance of a peaceful society without violence and how public institutions should protect the human rights and deliver justice.  Show students videos to raise awareness about what is happening around the world (wars, crimes, injustice).  Make a school survey with questionnaires to find out if students have noticed or experienced any form of violence or discrimination because of different ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation. (Klaidi, Paolo, Nikos, Maria, Aggelina, Katerina GR)

 support organisations like Amnesty International  demonstrate against injustice like war  help out in refugee homes (Kathrin, Bijou) GE

34

Goal 17. Partnerships for the goals Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

‘Togetherness’ is a street art work by Kyle Holbrook, an American muralist and activist best known for his street art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Miami, Florida.

35

Students’ proposals on Goal 17  We can organise or take part in events that promote the idea of togetherness in pursuing the 17 goals. If we start as a school community and we try to mobilise all school members we learn what it is like to co-operate and fight for a common goal.  We can create graffiti at school with 17 goals.  We can send a radio message through European Youth Radio.  We can share projects about the promotion of 17 goals with schools from other countries. The Greek students  more etwinning projects  translate the goals / our ideas into many languages and spread on social media, etc. (Mahir, Jermain, Maxim) GE

36
