adjustments to the family routine are necessarily made. Introduction to older children is imperative to ensure their position in the family. There are many steps parents undertake to ensure a smooth transition. It’s the same when introducing a new pet to the family mix. If other pets are already in the family, a safe introduction for the current and new pets is essential.

Some tips for a successful pet introduction: » Separate the existing pet from the new

pet initially with closed doors or baby gates, allowing the new pet to become acquainted with the new environment without intrusion from the familiar pet. » Feed pets at the same time on each side of a baby gate, allowing them to see one another during this pleasant experience without snatching the other one’s food. » Pet the dogs at the same time, and team up with an older family member to take them on walks. By teaming up, you can avoid any potential conflict between your four-legged kids. » Until you see consistent signs of pets getting along, keep the pets in separate rooms or crates when you leave home, preventing an unexpected altercation.

At Ms. C’s Bed & Biscuits, the staff is experienced in animal husbandry and ensures safe introductions for sociable guests.
