Beng Khmer Ruins

Beng Khmer Ruins is a single main square-based brick stupa with non-indented corners located in an area surrounded by ditches. It is around 4 x 4 m. in size and the entrance door is in the east. There are eight-faced ornamental pillars at this doorway. On each face of the pillar is the tracery of a triangle-shaped leaf which is a popular pattern around the 15th BE. The rest of the walls in all 3 sides are false doorways and all the roofs are gone. There are ridges surrounding the area in square shape which is still visible today except in the east that is the entry and exit way. Historical and Archeological Aspect Beng Khmer Ruins is a square-based stupa with non-indented corners with eight-faced ornamental pillars at its doorway. It is estimated that this place is built in 15th BE. and is the evidence of the influence of Khmer civilisation in that area in 15th BE. Beng Khmer Ruins is a single stupa small in size. It has never been repaired and the main body of the

stupa and the ornamental pillars at the doorway is what is left to be seen today in the same position as in the past. There are earthwork up to the base of the stupa with shoal canals around. The road to this Khmer Ruins is a dirt road. The place is taken care of and cleaned and weeded regularly. Location Beng Khmer Ruins, Kabcherng Sub-district, Kabcherng District, Surin Province To Go There From Surin City, take highway 214 (SurinPrasart), after passing Prasart District, there will be an intersection with traffic light, take a right turn to highway 24 then turn right to SR 2022 for 10 kilometers After reaching Parsart Beng village, keep going for another 500 meters and follow the signage to turn right on a dirt road for 800 meters to Beng Khmer Ruins at the end of the road.
