This guide went through the five-stage writing process over the course of the summers of 2019 and 2020. It entered a designing and printing process over fall and winter of 2020-2021.
At the Writing Center, we are big believers in revising. We look forward to continuing to re-see and re-write this work. For now, we are happy to be sharing this draft with you all!
We’d like to thank the many students who came to the Writing Center and showed us all what we tutors and admin needed to know in order to support other students (and ourselves) with the Academic Statement.
We would also like to thank partners outside of the Writing Center for their collaboration and support. Thank you to Dean Elizabeth Williamson for helping to fund this project, the attendees of our Academic Statement Guide Summer Institute for offering their constructive feedback, and the Marketing office and Madison, the fabulous student designer, for collaborating with us to present this guide in this super slick form.
Thank you to every office on campus that our tutors and admin interviewed! Your knowledge is invaluable!
Finally, as editor, I’d like to thank the tutors at the Writing Center who have been incredibly dedicated to serving students on campus. For some reason, they wanted to stay anonymous, but I know who they are, and I hope you join me in thanking them. Their expertise on the Academic Statement is nothing short of phenomenal.
