The shots were reportedly fired with a hunting rifle from inside a vehicle, but by the time police arrived on the scene, the shooter had fled. He was located attempting to get out of a car and enter a building, and refused to stop when ordered to do so, threatening the arresting officers with the weapon.

Food aid, not money THE Junta de Andalucia has announced that two meals handed out at schools to needy children will be substituted for money for their families. Some 20,000 schoolchildren in Andalucia benefit from the mid-morning and mid-afternoon meals and the provision will be maintained until the end of this term.

The Junta believes that giving financial grants to the families will provide more control on who is obtaining the aid, as well as helping children to get not only the food they need, but also other types of care. However, detractors of the scheme believe that the money could be used by some families for other purposes.
