A GIFT: Dom Miles (left) with Gwyneth Smith at Mood Beach.

Hamper of good cheer CHRISTMAS spirit was in the air last week when Dom Miles won a hamper of food and fine wines in a local charity raffle for the school of one of his co-workers. Rather than take the hamper for himself Dom, who works for Mood Beach Bar and Restaurant in Costa D’en Blanes and Son Amar, decided to re-donate it to charity. “I already get plenty of treats at Christmas, so I decided I wanted to give it to the poor and homeless in Mallorca. A lot of people still don’t realise there is a problem with poverty here on the island, so I wanted to highlight that as well.”

Gwyneth Smith, representing the NGO Mediterranea was delighted to accept the hamper on the organisation’s behalf. “We’re working very hard here in Mallorca to support children whose families are below the breadline. Mediterranea is always looking for people to help them raise awareness and money or to lend a hand at our volunteer centres.” The hamper will be raffled on January 25 to make sure they can raise as much money as possible. Tickets are €2 and can be bought at Dr Stoma’s surgery in Portals Nous. Visit http://mediterraneaong.com.
