Was honoured in 1989, the speech given during the ceremony, described “his struggle for the liberation of Tibet” whereby he “consistently opposed the use of violence. He has instead advocated peaceful solutions based upon tolerance and mutual respect in order to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of his people” according to nobelpeaceprize.org.
Barack Obama 8 The president of the United States won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 after his inauguration earlier that same year. President Obama was rewarded for his dedication and extraordinary efforts to bring countries together and strengthening international diplomacy and cooperation.

The world renowned sister otherwise known as The Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, who is hugely admired and respected by many, received her Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for founding ‘Missionaries of Charity.’

Was a co-recipient of the award in 2007 along with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The American politician, was that year’s winner for his work in educating the public on issues surrounding man-made climate change and laying the foundations for future measures to counteract such change.
