Days 3 + 4: Change of scenery. We decide we want to go higher up the mountains on our snowshoes. Arriving in Flims (Graubünden), we ride the ski lift up to the Vorab Glacier before snowshoeing up into the world of the 3000 metre peaks. Down in the valley the first cows are grazing on the meadows, while up here there is still plenty of snow – often hard-packed and windblown, but not especially dangerous. During our tour we get great views of some of the highlights of this spectacular mountain world: the curious rock formations of the Flimserstein and the escarpment of the Flims Rockslide, the Tschingelhörner and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Glarus Overthrust, the Rhine ravine of the Ruinaulta ...
