Police Beat

Eumundi Police were called to attend 127 emergency requests for police assistance in October including 23 domestic violence incidents, eight stealing offences, two steal from vehicles, wilful damage and fraud and bail act offences. Eumundi Police are also investigating over $5,000 worth of tools stolen at Valdora during a break and enter.

Four search warrants were executed relating to drug matters resulting in possession and production of dangerous drug charges now before the court. Police attended four traffic crashes with injury incidents and caught six drink drivers, one of whom provided a breath sample of 0.172%.

A 63yo male driver refused to provide police with a breath sample and was arrested for high range drink driving and obstructing police in Albert St, Eumundi. Only one driver during the month was caught drug driving.

The P-plate driver was caught with methyl amphetamine and cannabis in her system while driving with three passengers along Memorial Dr, Eumundi.

Highway Patrol issued 61 infringement notices for speeding, mobile phone and hooning offences. It is concerning to see the number of drivers still being caught using mobile phones while driving as this is now the leading cause of all injury-related traffic crashes in our area.

Highway Patrol will attend Eumundi and North Arm schools over the last few weeks of the school year as motorists continue to obstruct safe crossing areas causing a hazard for children and other motorists.

Eumundi Police currently have 34 active criminal investigations. Thank you to our sensational local community for their assistance providing police with CCTV footage and statements.

Until next month, please stay safe.
