Vinnies Sleepout

The Rotary Club of Eumundi has proudly sponsored Les Pontin – a dedicated and longterm member of the Rotary Club Caloundra Pacific – who will be participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout for the third time. The sleepout is scheduled for 19 June at the Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club and aims to raise awareness and funds for homelessness.

Official data reveals that at least 122,000 Australians are homeless, including over 1,200 individuals on the Sunshine Coast. However, the actual number is likely much higher. Funds raised from the Sunshine Coast event will remain in the region, directly supporting those experiencing or at risk of homelessness locally.

President of Vinnies Sunshine Coast Beryl Rowan said, “The rising cost of living and a critical shortage of affordable housing as significant contributors to the increasing strain on households. We’re seeing a heartbreaking rise in the number of families, older women, and young people seeking help. With average rents increasing by 6.3% in 2024 and a rental vacancy rate of just 0.9%, many Sunshine Coast residents are struggling to keep a roof over their heads.” Every dollar raised goes towards crisis accommodation, food and vital support through Vinnies' services.
