. CERPS photo congress, hosted by Edenvale Photographic Club, was a culmination of months and months of planning. With generous sponsorship from Godox SA, incredible support from Camera Tek, delicious coffee and snacks from Foakes Coffee Roastery, lunch courtesy of Calypso Home Decor and Lighting and kick-ass prizes from Huawei Mobile, it certainly was a day to remember. Incredible talks by Laetitia Wolhuter Kenny, Hougaard Malan, Craig Anderson and Martin Dudley kept attendees riveted.
Jaw dropping sets conceptualised by Hanli Smit with 5 gorgeous models provided photographers with shoot opportunities like never before, expertly overseen by portrait master Emmy Ojo Aromokundu. Lucy Gemmill put together some sublimely delicious food layouts for guests to capture and our saxophone players Kirsten and Tarik entertained with classic sounds.
The weather was as cool as we could hope for and the load shedding gremlins stayed away we couldn't have asked for more.
Congratulations to all the CERPS 2022 winners and thank you to all photographers who joined us on the day It would not have been a success without you!
CERPS 2022 was truly a day to remember One of the EPC club members told us that he hasn’t attended such a dynamic CERPS event in about 10 years high praise indeed and a validation to the organizing committee who put in months of hard work and effort
To make sure we could accommodate everybody in the Godox space, and that attendees would have ample shooting opportunity, we capped the number of attendees at 100 As it was, demand outstripped ticket supply and on the day we had approximately 109 participants.
CameraTek graciously gave of their time to do complimentary sensor cleaning for Nikon, Canon and Sony cameras, a service which many attendees gratefully took advantage of They also had a sales table with some phenomenal deals on accessories and some clever people snapped up some bargains
It truly was a visual feast for photographers
With 5 models in 5 different studios, and each model having 8 possible outfit changes, there was no shortage of beautiful inspiration on the day. Master portrait photography Emmy Ojo Arokomundu flitted from set to set, adjusting Godox lights, helping models pose and making sure winning images were being captured Our saxophone players Kirsten and Tariq alternated time in the spotlight, and even paired up a few times, which our attendees eagerly captured.
Two incredible food layouts were provided by Lucy Gemmill, complete with all the trimmings A home made chili sauce was garnished with garlic, ginger, turmeric and fresh chilis Her delicious looking cashew nut, orange, thyme and polenta cake was set up alongside the key ingredients For Lucy, food photography is about capturing the journey from the fresh ingredients to the final product, telling the story behind the dishes and capturing it in natural light The constant flow of people through the food tiles showed that many attendees are as enamoured with Lucy’s work as we are
Laetitia Kenny shared the journey of her nude photography to an eager audience, giving great advice on privacy concerns and model release forms. Hougaard Malan joined us for the day from Cape Town and shared some beautiful imagery whilst highlighting the importance of understanding weather if you ’ re to become a successful landscape photographer Godox Ambassador and Port Elizabeth resident Craig Anderson exhibited some incredible images during this talk, emphasizing the fact that you don’t need an extensive collection of lights to take killer shots Many of his shots were taken with only one light and the key lesson is to know that one light and what it can do Huawei Ambassador Martin Barber gave insight into where cell phone companies and camera companies are heading Camera companies are upgrading their bodies every four years, whereas cell phone companies do yearly upgrades Most people in the world own a cell phone, but far fewer own a mirrorless, DSLR or automatic camera Huawei have just released a massive 108 megapixel camera phone, and Ruth Anne Smit was the lucky winner of this incredible prize given away by Martin He encouraged PSSA clubs to embrace the role of cellphones if they are to survive and thrive into the 21st
To watch Graig Anderson work with Alisha was an absolute inspiration, the Friday before CERPS Craig and Emmy tested the lights as it was set up by Emmy the day before Both these amazing photographers are GODOX Ambassadors Alisha kindly helped out to make sure everything is ready for the big day
Eight examples of why Emmy Ojo Aromokundu is a master portrait photographer and Godox SA ambassador
We all had the same models and the same setups, but Emmy knocks it out the park All images below copyright Emmy Ojo Aromokundu and shot with Godox SA lighting at Edenvale Photographic Club's CERPS mini congress Studio concepts by Hanli Smit Models Sigrid, Verushca, Natasha & Jaime, and Alisha
