Using Creative Gifts for God’s Glory
If you venture over to Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran church on the second Thursday of any month, you will find a group of crafters working together in outreach for both the congregation and the community.
The knitters/crocheters are busy making prayer shawls for those in need of a little extra comfort during times of illness, stress, or death. Prayer shawls can convey so much when we are in times of trouble. Knowing that prayers, love, caring and sometimes humor went into each stitch is an enveloping comfort when words aren’t enough.

The quilters, who are finally back in operation after a 3-year Covid hiatus, are engaged in making hot pads for visitor welcome bags. Future plans are for wall hangings to enhance the sanctuary and “Friendship Hall” in addition to quilts for community need.
And then there is the card making group! This committed group works with great creativity and passion for their craft designing greeting cards for any and all occasions. Every member of the Shepherd of the Lake family receives a birthday card each year. Cards go out in sympathy, for new babies, to the military past and present on Veterans Day or whenever a need arises to show someone they have our support and prayers.
There is creativity, indeed, on the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 am at Shepherd of the Lake. But there is something else there as well – fellowship and friendship! We are located right in the Tellico Village town center. All are welcome to join us, either on Thursdays for fun and fellowship, or Sunday mornings at 9:00 am for the Word and Sacrament.
