We
return in October. This time we fly. We approach Moon from
above and touch ground with a delay of about one hour in the evening of October 11, 2012. In the underground garage we strap a seat and a child into the back of a silver Chrysler 300S and drive for 10 minutes along an empty highway through the even distribution of shiny raindrops until we reach our motel, America’s Best Value Inn, 8858 University Blvd, Moon. Everything is dark, except the illuminated box that hangs above the short staircase. It spells out the word LOBBY in black on white light, as if it was the title sequence for a film noir. That is it for the night. A structure with a roof, three rusty stories old, rooms with strangers in beds, tiled bathrooms, black TVs, and a bible in the drawer of every nightstand.
