The world is at your feet when it comes to our travel and tourism courses. Whether it’s your dream to travel the world as a holiday rep or you want to stay closer to home and work as a tourism officer, you will learn the skills you need to succeed to get your dream career off the ground. You’ll benefit from guidance and mentorship from employees and past students who work in the industry.

Learners will study UK visitor attractions, sustainable and responsible tourism, the UK conference and event industry, tour guiding as well as resort reps, cruise, travel agency operations. Learners will also be given the opportunity to work with and volunteer for local tourist boards, assisting with large events in the Tees Valley and the local area. This helps learners to gain work experience in local tourism, hospitality and event organisations.

NCFE CERTIFICATE IN TRAVEL & TOURISM

LEVEL 2 – 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

You will study all aspects of this exciting industry including resort reps, tour guiding, travel agency operations, airports and airline operations, event planning and customer service. You will benefit from a mixture of theory, practical sessions, guest speakers and educational trips such as visits to British Airways, Beamish, and London to name but a few.

YOU NEED:

Four GCSEs at grade 3-2 including English and maths.

Progress to the NCFE Introductory Diploma in Travel & Tourism Level 3.

NCFE CERTIFICATE IN TRAVEL & TOURISM

LEVEL 3 – 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

You will cover everything from customer service skills to the business behind travel and tourism, researching holiday destinations and building a working knowledge of the world around us. You will learn through group and individual study, educational trips, practical activities, guest speakers and research.

YOU NEED:

Four GCSE grades 9-4, including English and maths.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Continue your studies by progressing on to the Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism Level 3, or start your career now by moving into an industry-relevant role.

NCFE DIPLOMA IN TRAVEL & TOURISM

LEVEL 3 – 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

You will cover a range of specialist units including the cruise sector, events and conferences, retail travel, working as an overseas resort representative and building a more detailed knowledge of worldwide organisations. You will learn through group and individual study, educational trips, practical activities, guest speakers and research.

YOU NEED:

Introductory Diploma Level 3 qualification.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Continue your studies by progressing on to the FdA in Aviation & Tourism, or start your career now by moving into an industry-relevant role.

If you don’t have English and maths at GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.

DID YOU KNOW?

On this course learners will explore different types of tourism such as dark tourism here in the UK and worldwide. Having the opportunity to visit places such as The York Dungeons, Edinburgh and Auschwitz to name a few.
