reetings Tamarac!
As we welcome the blossoming of spring and the crack of the bat signaling the beginning of the Major League Baseball season , it ’s an oppor tune moment to reflect on our Cit y ’s vibrant spirit and the exciting events ahead.
This month, I had the privilege of representing our community in Tallahassee, engaging in crucial discussions with state representatives and senators about pressing issues that directly impact us here in Tamarac Affordable housing, the exorbitant costs of home insurance, and the ever-present challenge of traffic congestion were at the forefront of our conversations. It was heartening to see the dedication of our state leaders in understanding the unique challenges facing South Florida, particularly regarding home insurance affordability Together, we explored potential solutions and strategies to address these pressing concerns, ensuring a brighter future for all residents
In the midst of our advocacy effor ts , let us not forget to celebrate the rich diversit y that defines our beloved Tamarac . The One Tamarac Festival stands as a shining testament to our inclusive communit y spirit, where people of all backgrounds
come together to embrace our differences and celebrate our shared values . It is through events like these that we reaffirm our commitment to unit y and understanding, strengthening the bonds that tie us together as one resilient communit y.
On a more personal note, I had the pleasure of par ticipating in the Seniors Food Giveaway and Pet Furever E xpo, where I witnessed firsthand the incredible generosit y and compassion of our residents . The spirit of giving was palpable as volunteers and communit y members came together to suppor t our elderly population and furr y friends alike. It was a humbling experience, reminding me of the impor tance of kindness and solidarit y in building a brighter future for all.
As we bid farewell to March and eagerly anticipate the warmer days ahead, let us continue to stand together as a communit y, facing challenges headon and celebrating our triumphs with unwavering resolve. Together, we will continue to write the stor y of Tamarac , a tale of resilience, unit y, and boundless possibilit y
Warm regards , Vice Mayor Morey Wright

athers – what an incredible role they play in our lives . They embody leadership, protec tion , wisdom , love, kindness , compassion , discipline and judgment, to name a few. It ’s remarkable how effor tlessly they seem to take on these roles , almost as if they were born to do so.
Reflecting on my experiences , I recall struggling with reading during my younger years . Despite my challenges , my father always referred to me as his little genius , instilling a sense of belief that I couldn’t fully grasp at the time. His unwavering suppor t motivated me to overcome my difficulties and strive for excellence. Through the encouragement and guidance of good fathers like him , children find the strength to navigate life’s challenges and positively shape their futures
We are truly blessed to be surrounded by great fathers who make life meaningful. I witness this greatness daily in the never- ending guidance and sacrifice my husband bestows on our children . Fathers provide steadfast suppor t, whether we’re at the tender age of 2 or navigating the complexities of adulthood at 2 2 . Fathers are the unsung heroes , quietly shaping our lives and offering invaluable wisdom along the way Today, let ’s take a moment to celebrate these extraordinary men who enrich our lives in countless ways. To all the fathers out there: you are cherished, you are loved and you are deeply appreciated. Your dedication, sacrifices and unwavering love do not go unnoticed. Thank you for being the pillars of strength we can always rely on

WATE R SAF ET Y
Many Floridians spend hot summer days relaxing by the pool. Despite the many poolside smiles and laughs summer brings , tragedy can strike without warning when safet y isn’t at the forefront of our mind
According to the Florida Department of Health, the Sunshine State leads the nation in drowning deaths of children ages 1 to 4. Nationally, drowning is also the number one killer of children within that age group.
Florida is surrounded by water, and many homes have back yard pools . Teaching children to swim is essential. The Cit y of Tamarac ’s C aporella Aquatic Center offers swim lessons and other helpful water safet y programs . To learn more, visit w w w C aporellaAquaticCenter com

H elpful Water Safety Reminders From Ta ma rac Fire Rescue
• Never leave a child alone in or near water, not even to refill your drink . According to the U. S . Army Corps of Engineers , it only takes 20 seconds for a child to drown . That ’s about the same amount of time it takes to read and respond to the average text message
• Leave all distractions , including your phone and tablet, inside and closely watch those in the pool Not only does drowning happen quickly, but in many cases , it ’s a silent tragedy.
• Install fences and alarms around your pool or lake. It can save a life!
• C all Tamarac Fire Rescue at (95 4) 597-3 8 0 0 or visit w w w.Tamarac .org/CPR to sign up for CPR and first-aid training

As several proper t y crime trends sweep the nation , crime fighters in Broward Count y are joining forces to protect communities like Tamarac , with an extra emphasis on our senior citizens
Introduced in Januar y of 202 2, the Broward Count y Proper t y Appraiser ’s Office’s Crimes Against Proper t y (CAP) unit builds criminal cases against people who commit title fraud to steal homes in Broward Count y. Criminals do this by creating and filing a fake deed with fake notarized signatures to the Count y.
Throughout Broward Count y, senior citizens and low-income proper t y owners have been the most frequent victims of these crimes . Since forming CAP, they ’ve made a significant impact Count y wide. In Tamarac alone, their effor ts resulted in 15 investigations , resulting in multiple arrests and felony charges . In most of the Tamarac cases , the alleged criminals posed as a deceased person to gain control of the title
In addition to catching criminals , the task force aims to promote prevention through
communit y education and resources . Broward Count y homeowners can protect themselves by signing up for the free Owner Aler t program at w w w Tamarac me/OwnerAler t. This program monitors and will notif y you of ownership activit y and changes on your proper t y
C all (95 4) 357- 69 0 0 to repor t suspected instances of proper t y fraud. To repor t any crime in Tamarac , please call 911 for emergencies and call BSO -Tamarac District at (95 4) 76 4- H ELP (4357 ) for non- emergencies
