Johanna Catharina Dunbar (Jane) Late of Carlyle, Sk. and formerly of North Portal, Sk. passed away on Sept 10/13 at the age of 93 years. Jane was born in Nijmegen, Holland and immigrated to Canada as a Dutch War bride following the end of WW2. Jane married Fraser McLean Dunbar (Mac) in Holland in Jan/46 and came to Canada with other Dutch war brides in August later that year. Mac and Jane lived at North Portal until recent years when they moved to Carlyle, Sk. to be closer to their daughter. Mac and Jane had three children: Larry, Kevin and Marsha. Jane was a homemaker, community person, wonderful Gramma and a friend to all. She loved to sew, grow indoor plants and travel. Jane worked as a clerk for Percy Davis Customs Brokers and later for Sk. Tourism as a tourist information officer in North Portal. Jane leaves to celebrate her life, her sons; Larry Dunbar, Kevin (Ruth) Dunbar and daughter; Marsha (David) McLean, her grand children; Fraser (Lori) Dunbar and their children (Nick, Erika, Tim, Joella), Nicole, David, Daniel Dunbar and Kim, Brent(LaTonya), Michele McLean. Predeceased by husband Mac in 2007, daughter in law Ginnette Dunbar, 2 sisters; Tinni and Toni, 2 brothers; Herman and Jan. A memorial service was held in the United Church in North Portal on Sept 16/13 officiated by Brenna Nickel with internment in the North Portal cemetery. Arrangements were made by Orsted Funeral Home, Carlyle, Sk. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to Moose Mtn. Lodge, Carlyle, Sk.

We would like to thank all of Mom’s friends for their kindness and friendship throughout all of her life. She had many wonderful friends who she thought so much of. Elizabeth “Janet” Panteluk Dec. 18, 1927 – Oct. 3, 2013 Janet Panteluk, formerly of Bienfait, Sask. passed away in Weyburn, Sask. on Thursday October 3, 2013, at the age of 85 years. Janet is survived by her children, Janet (Warren) Keim, Saskatoon, Sask. and their children, Rae and Sara; Sandra (Andy) Robertson, Carlyle, Sask. and their children, Jennie (Michael) Weber (Cassidy, Jordan and Ashley), Tanner (Rae) Robertson (Reese and Jade), and Garett Robertson; Kelly (Jo-Ann) Panteluk, Estevan, Sask. and their children, Mary, Riley and Elly. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Kay Wilson of Estevan, Anne Sahaidak of Moose Jaw, Sask. and Margaret Panteluk of Estevan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Panteluk; parents, Edward & Maria Wilson; brother Guy Wilson and sisters, Amy, Irma,

Marion and Joyce. Janet and Walter, high school sweethearts, were married on September 25, 1947, living and working together for 54 years at Panteluk Construction. In addition to managing the accounts at work, Janet found time for volunteering in the community, particularly around her children’s activities, and in the summer months enjoyed planting and then harvesting a large garden. The family genuinely thanks the staff at Tatagwa View for the care bestowed upon Janet while she was living there these last few years. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Giles Anglican Church, Estevan, with Rev. Mark Osborne officiating. Interment followed at the Bienfait Cemetery. Those wishing to make donations in Janet’s memory may do so directly to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, or St. Giles Anglican Church, Estevan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.

Our family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, for their thoughtful cards, for the many bouquets of flowers that adorned St. Giles and our homes, and for the monetary donations made in Janet's memory. All contributed to last week's celebration of Janet's life and are now part of our memories of Mom, memories we will cherish.

Lillian May Mantei (nee Cundall) April 13, 1921 – October 5, 2013 With heavy hearts and fond memories we announce the passing of our wonderful Lillian. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace. Lily passed away peacefully with Jim & Gail at her side on October 5, 2013 at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband, William Ernest Mantei (2006); son Robert Thomas Mantei (2007); brother Tom Cundall (2013); daughter-in-law Florence Mantei (2013); parents, Violet and George Cundall; mother and father-in-law Elizabeth & Edward Mantei; brothers-in-law Rudolph Mantei, Albert Mantei, Elmer Jensen, Henry Wingert, Frank Demeter, Archie Mantei, Kenn Beggs and William Konopaki; sisters-in-law Ella Jensen, Bertha Cundall and Lenora Konopaki. The manner in which Lillian led her life exemplified love, compassion, kindness, generosity, friendship, courage, & grace. Lily’s final gift was to help others who suffer from Parkinson’s disease by donating her brain to the “Ali Rajput Endowment” with research being conducted by Dr. Rajput at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Our deepest gratitude to the staff & caregivers of the William Albert Personal Care Home in Emerald Park as they have been a true blessing the past 7 years of Lillian’s life. Rather than staff they became “her extended family” providing support and love. Flowers most gratefully declined. We are so grateful to our family and friends for their prayers, uplifting messages, cards, tributes, food, flowers, donations in Lillian's name, hugs and especially the love during this difficult time. Special acknowledgement to the Care givers & friends at William Albert Care Home in Emerald Park who filled Mom's final days with compassion and immense kindness. The Rev. Mark Osborne, thank you for both the prayer and memorial service of Lillian's life which brought us great comfort. We are indebted to Dustin Hall and his compassionate staff at Hall Funeral Services for the great care and patient guidance given to Gail in planning a wonderful celebration. Heather Woodhouse, your attention to detail for the service pamphlet was so appreciated. Many thanks to Goddaughters, Lauralie Ireland and Brenda Noble, who read scripture that reminded us of God's promise of eternal life. To Margaret Duncan, pianist, and members of St. Giles Anglican Church who graciously prepared & served the luncheon we are so thankful. Friends and family travelled so far to join us and that touched our hearts. Darrell Lorne Miller, late of Estevan, Sask. passed away at Estevan on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the age of 73 years. Darrell is survived by his wife Gloria, Estevan; children, Rick (Maureen) Miller and family Kolton & Erika, Rossland, B.C., Michael (Michelle) and family, Jacob & Claire, Bienfait, Sask., Tim (Lesley) and family, Zack, Aiden and Tayce, Estevan; his siblings, Joan (Harvey) Sylvester, Sherwood Park, Alta., Joy (Duane) Dukart, Edmonton, Alta., Pam (Lorne) Wagner, Bienfait; his in-laws, Leslie (Eileen) Kvamme, Estevan, John (Brenda) Kvamme, Saskatoon, Sask., Joyce Dodd, Estevan, Cheryl Kvamme, Estevan, Marg (John) Green, Victoria, B.C., Ray Briltz, Regina and Ken (Barb) Mehler, Estevan. LEO FREITAG May 8, 1927 – October 5, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family of Leo Freitag announces his passing on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the age of 86 years. Leo was born in Riga, Latvia on May 8, 1927. After spending the majority of his formative years at Alameda, he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with B.E. degrees in Agricultural Engineering (1949) and Mechanical Engineering (1953). His first employment was with Cockshutt Farm Equipment of Brantford, ON from 1950-1952. In 1953, Leo began work with the Saskatchewan Department of Mineral Resources in the oil and gas division and remained there until 1970. Starting in 1970, he was actively engaged in grain farming in the Willmar area before moving to Estevan in 2001. Leo served on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Moose Mountain Choral Society, the Estevan and District ProLife Association, and the church councils of St. James Lutheran Church, (Carlyle), St. Peter Lutheran Church (Oxbow), and St. Peter's Lutheran Church (Estevan). He also played clarinet with the Arcola Community Band for several years. Leo will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Irene (nee Biberdorf), son David (Gina) and grandsons Troy and Ryan of Fargo, ND, and also by his sister, Lilly (Edgar) of Munster, IN; his brothers, Hugo (Agnes) of Lampman, Kuno (Hertha) of Alameda, Hubert of Alameda, Edwin (Roberta) of Alameda, William (Darlene) of Arcola, Melvin (Bonnie) of Carlyle, and Gerhardt (Cheryl) of Regina. Leo will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. A celebration of Leo's life was held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 130 Souris Ave N., Estevan, with Rev. Randy Kleemola officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at the Alameda Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Leo may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation (Estevan). Arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
