DESIGN STATEMENT The way I see it, design is where aesthetics and functionality intersect to create something, be it tangible or conceptual. That being said, aesthetics are subjective in nature and that is how different styles come to be.

Personally, I find myself leaning towards designs which are mostly modern and contemporary, however I am not reluctant to indulge in other styles. When it comes to inspiration, I am deeply affected by life around me and so I tend to find inspiration from my day to

day

life.

Moreover, while developing concepts for interior design

projects, I tend to focus on the intended function and ambiance of the space,

using

various

forms

and

materials

to

apply

my

vision;

constantly looking for ways to meet the requirements while still ensuring a level of creativity and innovation. As for the kind of approach I would like to move forward with, I would say that my intention is to take my knowledge in art and design and apply it to show that creative fields are not just about aesthetics and luxuries as they have the ability to help the community become better in more ways than one.

Affordable Housing | Proposed Building Sructure + Exterior Elevation (Revit)

A HOUSE AND A HOME | AFFORDABLE HOUSING Because the current residential real estate market caters largely towards middle to high income groups, with little to no regards to low income members of the society; the aim of this project is to provide housing units that are reasonably priced for residents of Dubai with salaries below the average household income. Hence, the main audience is Asian expat families which are the group that is most affected by this issue.

Looking for an area that is suitable for the placement of this project, al-Karama was selected, because the living expenses there would be considerably lower as opposed to somewhere that is further away from the city.

Taking into consideration all of the information extracted from the research and the case studies, the objective is to provide security, stability and comfort in

a multi generational residential space in al-Karama, Dubai.

Furthermore, this project uses a set of 20ft containers joined together to form the units that make up the structure of the building.

Audience: Expat families with a household income between 5K-15K AED Context: Multi-family residential complex in an ethnically mixed neighbourhood in Dubai.

For this specific project the planing strategy was zoning based on the range of privacy needed for the different types of activities that would take place within the building.

Art and Design Book Center - Alserkal Avenue | Floor Plans (Revit)

ALSERKAL AVENUE | ART AND DESIGN BOOK CENTER The Purpose of this project is to create a community art and design book center, that is befitting of Dubai’s contemporariness.

The space provided will serve as a multifunctional hub for art and design enthusiasts from various backgrounds. It will include a publication area, as well as a cafe, workspaces, gallery zones, and an outdoor garden.

To create an interactive environment that enhances creative productivity and promotes diverse intellectual discourse in the field of art and design, the Program established for the center includes the following: Ground Floor: Publication Zones: Art and design Library (includes digital library) Bookstore and stationary Gallery (decentralised)

AlMaha 5-star Resort Spa -ADA Day Spa | Floor Plan (Revit)

AL MAHA 5-STAR RESORT | ADA DAY SPA The purpose of this project is to create a Day spa that is fitting for a 5-star hotel in Jumeirah, Dubai.

However, the main goal is to make the space suitable for people with disabilities, as there aren’t enough wellbeing centers that are ADA compliant.

With the provision of a space that ensures pure relaxation and rejuvenation through its various amenities, the guests will be able to reduce their stress, anxiety and muscle tension as well as revitalize their bodies.

With a variety of therapeutic, relaxing and pampering treatments for everyone to enjoy, the day spa program includes: -

Armani Hotel Room Re-Design | Floor plan (3DS Max)

ARMANI HOTEL | ROOM RE-DESIGN With the intention to Re-design a space and give it a new purpose, as more than just a luxury brand hotel room but rather an experience of some sort; where the traveling visitor can gain some knowledge about the unwritten elements of the Emirati culture.

Armani is a brand indulged in accommodating designs for everyone, and it is also a brand that has a sense of social responsibility despite their grandness. This point is where I personally find the matching point or the connection between Armani and the UAE, because like Armani, Emirati culture is very keen on hospitality and communion, and its extremely diverse population is evidence enough.

While developing the design of this project I struggled choosing the right word to describe this collaboration between Armani and Dubai. However, I eventually found inspiration in the word Infiltrate which means to gradually permeate or become a part of.

And it is fitting for many reasons

as this union itself requires both parties to diffuse into each other to create something bigger and better.

The proposed design of the new hotel room is one that aims to be very modern as it should not clash with the typical Armani brand, yet still have some aspects of Dubai culture. To signify the meeting of two different cultures that go well together, the new space incorporates some contrasting elements, such as color, texture and height levels.

For instance the chosen color template and material selection shares warmth but it differs in the value and the roughness of the elements.moreover, the use of a low bed which is reminiscent of the old Emirati sleeping environment, contrasts with the elevated seating which is more of a western aspect of design.

Adding to that, the accent wall which links to the sculptural ceiling element, shows components that are almost converging into each other with lights seeping through them.

the main purpose of this project is to showcase the product and display it in the best possible way, with regards to maximum space efficiency, cost, aesthetic appeal, speed and ease of assembly and disassembly.

The Exhibition Stand will accommodate the following: - Display area for the cars.

- Bentley Merchandise.

- Semi private conference room.

EXHIBITION STAND DESIGN | BENTLEY MOTORS Since the meaning of the word "Bokeh" is an effect which forces you to focus your attention on a particular area of the image, the design Intention is to make the stand a focal point in the exhibition. As well as to ensure the clients’ full attention in each zone of the stand.

Scents | Perfume Table (Photoshop)

SCENTS | FURNITURE DESIGN For this project, the aim was to create a piece of furniture that represents the Emirati culture.

Inspired by the form of the bukhoor, which is scented wood chips that produce fragrant smoke when burned. The team of 3 designed a piece that serves as a perfume table, which is a table typically seen in Emirati weddings and is used to showcase different types of perfume and aromatic incenses, for the guests to use.

To make an object that is aesthetic as well as functional the team came up with various designs and modeled them digitally using

softwares such as 3dsmax and Autodesk Fusion before choosing the best ones and creating foam board prototypes of them with the help of a laser cutting machine.

The final product was made out of plywood that was sliced using the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine, The wood pieces were then stacked together to form the desired shape.

Following that phase, The sanding process took place to help smoothen the edges and the surfaces, as well as to enhance the curves which make up the main element of the furniture piece.

WALL LAMP | FURNITURE DESIGN

Inspiration | Extrusion

When designing this project the main element was extrusion as the proposed lighting fixture was meant to have a seamless transition from the wall. the process included multiple expirements, starting from the digital modeling and progressing to the physical which was made using the stacking method . The end result was a wall lamp made out of MDF (Mediumdensity fibreboard) sheets stacked and sanded together to create a

form that tapers towards the wall, with a small opening meant for the light source. Since the lamp widens toward the outerside the light spreads or diffues throughout the space.

The lamp Can be further redeveloped into floor or a ceiling lamp with the same design approach.
