HOW TO DESIGN YOUR GARDEN STORY HANEEN AL LAWATI

O

ne of the first things that attract people when visiting your house is your garden. If you want your house to be unique and attractive, then a beautiful garden is the way to do so. The question is, how to arrange your garden? How do you start planning to design your garden and which plants to use? Here’re a few tips on how to start planning:

RESEARCH FLOWERS Try to choose different kind of flowers, with different shapes, colours, and sizes. Include long-living ones and short-term ones as well as some ornamental grasses and vines. Your garden will look colourful yet organised and beautiful. DETERMINE THE GARDEN’S SHAPE AND SIZE Don’t start too large. You can always start with a small and a well-organised garden and then expand it if necessary. To know how to arrange your garden, pick a garden hose and shape your garden with it. Make sure you can access all the plants whether they’re in the middle or on the sides, if not then make sure you have a small path so you can access your plants freely. SUPPLY A FOCAL POINT Every garden needs a focal point. A focal point gives a start to the place before going around and seeing the rest of the garden. It could be a flowering shrub in the middle or planting a mass of single flower type in the centre of the garden. PLANT HEIGHT You need to consider the height of the plants you choose in accordance to your house. If your garden is a border around your house, then the tallest plants need to go in the back but they shouldn’t be so tall in order not to cover the windows and doors. any people love nature and to include it in their houses they buy artificial plants if they don’t have a garden to grow them. However, what many people don’t know is that there are different types of plants that can live inside the house and not necessarily exposed to the sun. Here are five different types of plants for all the nature lovers out there. EASY TO GROW AND DOESN’T NEED MUCH LIGHT There’re many types of these plants that don’t need much care or much light. Lucky bamboo trees are one of the most popular plants of this type. What’s so interesting about this tree is that you can grow it either in soil or in water. Another popular type is the Spider plant. Many of you might not recognise the name but it’s so

popular that you must have seen it somewhere. FOLIAGE PLANTS These are plants that are grown for the interesting look of their leaves. One type is called the Aluminium plant which is known for their green and silver oval shaped leaves. If you have experience with plants and you’re not a beginner then choose croton plants because they require much care. Its leaves are green with yellow prominent veins that turn into a reddish purple colour. CACTUS PLANTS Cactus house plants come in all sorts of weird yet wonderful shapes. They originate from the desert which we all know but also from the forest and depending on where they’re from,

we know how much care they need and how their appearances differ. INDOOR PALM PLANTS These plants are considered more expensive than other home plants; however, they give a unique look to your home. Parlour palms are the most popular plants grown indoors. If they’re given the right amount of light, they can produce small flowers. HANGING BASKET PLANTS These type of plants add a touch of attractiveness to your home as you can hang them in different areas.
