APPLICATION PROCESS
First-year students
Candidates are selected by USC faculty and staff from an extremely competitive national pool. Applicants pursue the most demanding curriculum and achieve at the highest level.
Submit a completed Common Application with required materials by the Early Action deadline of November 1. For majors requiring a portfolio or audition, apply by the December 1 Regular Decision deadline.
Competitive applicants will be at the top of the applicant pool with respect to academic achievement. In addition to academic criteria, candidates’ talent, perseverance, innovation, involvement and leadership are considered.
NOTIFICATION By April 1, 2023
By mid-February, the Office of Undergraduate Admission will notify candidates chosen to move forward in the scholarship process about the next steps.
National Merit Finalist Presidential

First-year students
Selected on the basis of PSAT performance. Entering first-year students are considered if they have been designated National Merit Finalists and name USC as their first-choice college with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by May 31.

International Freshman Academic

First-year students
Competitive applicants will be at the top of the applicant pool with respect to academic achievement. In addition to academic criteria, candidates’ talent, perseverance, innovation, involvement and leadership are considered. Applicants must be international students. At USC, an international student is an individual of foreign nationality who will be entering, or has already entered, the United States with a student visa.
Submit a completed Common Application along with all supporting documents, including proof of financial support. No additional application is required. Applications must be submitted by the Early Action deadline of November 1. For majors requiring a portfolio or audition, apply by the December 1 Regular Decision deadline.

Transfer students
Candidates are selected by USC faculty and staff from an extremely competitive pool. Selection is based on a comprehensive review of the admission application, including but not limited to grade point average in transferable courses and rigor of coursework. Competitive candidates will have an average GPA above 3.7 and more than 30 transferable units by February 15.
Submit a completed Common Application with required materials and transcripts showing fall 2022 grades by February 15.

Primarily awarded to California residents. Strong emphasis is placed on leadership and academic performance. Scholarship recipients are chosen without regard to gender. Each alumnae group that awards scholarships establishes individual qualifications.

Asian Pacific Alumni Association

Currently enrolled USC undergraduate, transfer, graduate or professional students. Both domestic and international students may apply.
Scholarships are awarded based on merit and/or need-based criteria. Candidates should have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrate active involvement in the Asian Pacific American community, and be enrolled in a full-time academic program at USC. Awarded students are required to complete 15 community service hours with APAA.

Competitive candidates will have demonstrated a strong leadership or community service commitment in the Black Community. Selection generally prioritizes both merit and financial need. Limited merit-only scholarships are available, as noted on our website. Awarded students are required to complete community service hours (20 hours, undergraduate student; 10 hours, graduate student).

Half Century Trojans Endowed

Applicant must be a direct descendant (i.e., grandchild or great-grandchild) of: 1) a person who received an undergraduate degree from USC 50 or more years ago, OR 2) a person who received an undergraduate degree from a college or university 50 or more years ago and later received a graduate degree from USC. Selection criteria include academic achievement, potential for leadership and community service.

Competitive candidates will be at the top of our applicant pool with respect to academic achievement. Emphasis is placed on leadership within and outside the Jewish community. Recipients are expected to become involved with the USC Jewish community and to volunteer for prospective Jewish student recruitment activities.
Submit a Common Application by the Early Action deadline of November 1. For majors requiring a portfolio or audition, apply by the December 1 Regular Decision deadline. A separate Jewish Leadership Application is due by January 15. Students who identify as Jewish on the Common Application will receive an email with a link to the scholarship application. Lambda LGBT Alumni Association

First-year students, currently enrolled undergraduate students, transfer and graduate students.
USC Lambda awards scholarships in multiple academic disciplines to incoming and transferring undergraduates and to graduate students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, personal merit, and contribution to the LGBT community. Recipients must complete 20 hours of required service.

Continuing undergraduate, graduate, or professional students.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement (minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale), leadership and active involvment in the Latinx community. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and merit to students enrolled fulltime at USC. Scholars are required to participate in various professional development activities throughout the year.

Named for and honoring the legacy of the first member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) tribe to earn a master’s degree (conferred by USC), this award ensures that future generations have the opportunity to make lasting contributions to academia and the global community.

Students who identify as Native American, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian on the Common Application will receive an email with a link to the scholarship application. Norman Topping Student Aid Fund (NTSAF)

Entering firstyear, transfer and graduate students.
The purpose of the NTSAF is to assist entering freshmen, transfers and graduate students with high financial need who also demonstrate an extraordinary level of community awareness in their pursuit of higher education at USC. First-generation college students and local area applicants are given primary consideration in the selection process. However, please note that the scholarship is not limited to these populations.

Incoming first-year students, current undergraduate and graduate students.
Open to incoming first-year, current undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens and permanent residents of Southern California. Competitive first-year candidates will be at the top of our applicant pool with respect to GPA (minimum 3.5 cumulative unweighted). Current undergraduate and graduate students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4. School activities, community involvement and leadership are considered in the award process, and a personal interview is required.
