Michael Kors Biography American fashion designer Attended FIT but dropped out after two semesters Michael Kors women's collection launched in May 1981. The collection sold in Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue. At 23, he convinced Anna Wintour to view his collection. Known for his elegantly tailored clothing

This fashion show took place in the streets of New York City's theatre district. Alison Cohn with Vogue described the show as, "A triumphant celebration of the hustle and drive that continues to animate the city’s fashion..."

Zebra, plaid, houndstooth, cheetah, stripe, chalk stripe, and glitter/sequins.

Accessories/ Footwear: Key Silhouettes: Tailored and clean silhouettes were very prominent within this collection. Kors also experimented with volume.

Colors: White, black, red, light gray, dark gray, tan, light brown, dark brown, gold, and silver.

Saint Laurent Biography Born in 1936 in Algeria Made intricate paper dolls throughout his childhood As a teenager he would design dresses for his mother and sister When he was 17, his mom arranged a meeting with the editor of French Vogue for him Moved to Paris and enrolled in Chambre Syndicale de la Couture The French Vogue editor introduced him to Christian Dior - he studied under Dior In 1960 Saint Laurent got called back home to fight in a war. Saint Laurent didn't have to serve due to health reasons but when he returned his job was gone. He then sued his mentor, Dior for breach of contract. He used the money won in the lawsuit to start his own label. Saint Laurents signature pieces were sheer blouses, jumpsuits, blazers, and smoking jackets. He also introduced the pea coat to the runway. Anthony Vaccarello now runs the label.

Saint Laurent Fall 2021 RTW Designer:

Anthony Vaccarello

Mood: Vaccarello told WWD “I wanted to push the line which separates bad and good taste, blurring each other’s limit.” He pushed contrast during this fashion show placing the models wearing skimpy looks into a wintery climate.

Key Silhouettes: He examined the shapes of the 60's for silhouette influence. This collection had silhouettes ranging from skimpy body wear, plunging necklines, and mini skirts to tailored tweeds and voluminous furs.

Colors: Vaccarello's collection pulled influence from the colors of the 80's. This was a colorful collection incorporating black, white, teal, gray, tan, blush pink, brown, light yellow, mustard yellow, silver, purple, red, and more.

Fabrics/ Fabric Treatments (Materials): A few featured fabrics include leather, fur, coat weight materials (wools and tweeds), knits, cotton, nylon and silk.

Prints/Patterns: Tweed, metallic, plaid, stripes, florals, and sequins all made an apperance in this eclectic collection.

Accessories/ Footwear: 1) Thigh High Boots Shown in a black leather. 2) Knee High Boots Shown in black leather. 3) Calf Length Boots Shown in brown suede/fur, white leather 4) Pointed Toe Heels Shown in black leather with the tip of the toe in either blue, pink, silver, gold, or pink. Shown in red and pink plaid with a silver toe, and blue plaid with a blue toe. 5) Chunky Statement Jewelry Both gold and silver jewelry with black accents Metallic chain belts Diamond and floral choker necklaces Long statement necklaces featuring crosses and clovers

Tory Burch Biography American fashion designer Born in 1966 After attending college at the University of Pennsylvania Post-graduation Burch cold called American fashion designer Zoran asking for a job Zoran offered her a job She then went on to become a sittings assistant for Harper’s Bazaar, then moved into PR and advertising at Ralph Lauren , Vera Wang and Loewe The company (Tory Burch) was founded in 2004 Tory Burch is known for its American, bohemian-preppy sportswear The company's goal is to redefine American luxury and empower women and women entrepreneurs

Fabrics/ Fabric Treatments (Materials): Corduroy suiting, poplin, knits, ribbed knits, twill crepe, faux patent leather, Japanese raw denim, and coat weight materials (wools).

Prints/Patterns: Tweed, metallic, plaid, stripes, florals, Indian block print, Japanese floral wall covering inspired fabric, and sequins all made an appearance in this eclectic collection.

Mood: “It is both the dream and the reality of possibilities… opportunity, creativity and diversity. The collection reinterprets American luxury, channeled through the attitude of classic New York.” — Tory Burch This collection also had influence from the 70's.

Key Silhouettes: Burch said that more elevated proportions were incorporated. This collection featured layering and tailored, clean, modern, menswear inspired suiting.

Colors: This collection incorporated black, taupe, gray, purple, red, brown, light yellow, blue, green, light blue, navy blue, teal, red, cream, etc.

Burberry Biography Thomas Burberry founded Burberry at 21 His intention was to design clothing that protects people from British Weather Thomas Burberry invented the fabric gabardine (a breathable and waterproof fabric) In 1912 Thomas Burberry designed the tielocken coat which is the predecessor to the trench coat The Burberry trench coat was invented during the First World War. The trench coat was weather resistant and was created to hold military equipment In the 1920s the Burberry check was registered as a trademark and used as the lining in their coats Riccardo Tisci's now runs Burberry

This collection is a "love letter to women and a celebration of their incomparable strength". -Riccardo Tisci's

Plaid, color blocking, sequins, stars, animal inspired stripes, and more all made an appearance in this collection.

The brand expresses a "love letter to women" through silhouettes seen predominantly in nature and outerwear (WWD). Tisci shook things up this season. It was his first stand-alone women’s show, and he moved away from streetwear silhouettes and elements like puffers and sneakers. Instead elements like coats with exaggerated flaps, slouchy trenches, dramatic capes, and wing panels were featured.

Celine Biography Celine is a French ready to wear brand Céline Vipiana and her husband Richard founded Celine in 1945 as a made-to-measure children’s shoe boutique By 1948 the couple expanded their brand to three shoe stores More than a decade later, Vipiana branched out and launched a ready-to-wear line Céline Vipian's goal was to deliver fashion to the everyday woman She advocated for practical clothing for women She launched a sportswear-driven line that revolved around wool skirt suits, fitted shirts, leather vests, and pastel-colored denim. In the 1970's Celine went international In 1996 LVMH Celine officially became a part of LVMH group Vipiana remained the designer of Celine until she died in 1997 then Michael Kors took over Hedi Slimane is now the designer of Celine

Plaids, stripes, glitter/shimmer, yoke sweater pattern, sequins, quilting (puffer), a pattern made of perfume bottles, snakeskin, and cheetah,

The words 'youth interrupted' encapsulate the theme of this collection. The collection has French, English countryside, and 90's influence.

Iro Biography Laurent and Arik Bitton (brothers) founded IRO in 2005 Their mission is to build a simple and strong wardrobe for the everyday cool girl that is confident, nonchalant but always true to herself. The founders were involved in the music world. They are singers, pianists, and guitarists in NYC. Iro's signature style combines rock and roll & edgy pieces with Parisian chic They are inspired by the 70’s in America, the joyful Japanese madness and Parisian romanticism. Their target consumer is an active, independent, and modern woman.

Mood: The collection mixes sexyness and a tomboy/menswear inspired look. This collection was designed with the modern woman in mind.

Key Silhouettes: Bomber jackets, oversized menswear inspired blazers, high slit skirts, buillt up shoulders, and mini dresses were all featured.

Colors: Black, white, gold, light gray, dark gray, pink, dark brown, fuchsia, coral, area,, light blue, dark blue, and orange.

Max Mara Biography Marina Rinaldi, the founder’s great grandmother, owned and managed a workshop Cavaliere Achille Maramotti founded the first company of the Max Mara Group in 1951 His goal was to produce high quality women's clothing perfect for 'power dressing' Max Mara focused on womenswear coats Ian Griffiths is now the creative director of Max Mara Max Mara has the 'Max Mara Atelier'- the Max Mara Atelier collection is centered on research and innovation in coats.

Max Mara Atelier Fall 2021 RTW Designer: Laura Lusuardi

Fabrics/ Fabric Treatments (Materials): Cashmere, double-face camel wool, double wool crepe fabric, alpaca, and mohair were used to create these coats.

Mood: The collection encapsulated the elegance and sophistication of Max Mara, perfect for their target audeince of powerful women.

Prints/Patterns: All of the coats were made from solid colors, without patterns.

Key Silhouettes: "...the coats spanned from more masculine designs with horn buttons and leather details to pea coats, duffle coats and collarless option in couture-like cuts with high-waisted belts elongating the silhouette." (WWD)

Colors: Chalk, stone, jute, beetroot, khaki, deep blue, and charcoal are colors used on these coats.

Juun J. Biography Juun.J graduated from ESMOD Seoul in 1992. After graduation he became a designer for menswear label Chiffons, Club Monaco, and NIX. In 1999 he launched his own line called Lone Costume In 2007 he presented a new brand named after himself, Juun.J Juun J. is recognized for examining classic elements of menswear and tailoring through the use of deconstruction and reconstruction. In his work he creates a contrast by pairing rigid structures and soft shapes, sharp cuts and loose draping. His pieces are often times monochromatic Has a unisex approach to fashion design

This unisex collection beautifully merged both masculine and feminine design decisions.

Most of the looks were made from solid colors, without patterns. Many of the looks had ribbing detailing; one of the looks has stripes.

This collection has military/utilitarian inspired elements. The looks are highly tailored. Pea coats, puffers, pleated skirts, maxi dresses, and parkas were used while playing with proportions

Annakiki Biography Chinese designer Anna Yang founded Annakiki in 2013 She is an independent fashion designer Anna Yang explores surrealist fantasy through her designs She often has bold and futuristic elements in her design work In 2017, the label was officially added to the Milan Fashion Week calendar To Annakiki her brand represents independence, modernity, playfulness, and rebellion

Mood: This collection incorporates bold and futuristic elements. The story of this collection is based around the concept of time travel.

Prints/Patterns: Some of the patterns shown in this collection include cow print, zebra, outer space inspired patterns, marbled patterns, blue snakeskin, houndstooth, checks, polka-dots, chalk stripes, etc.

Key Silhouettes: Anna Yang had volume on her mind while designing her Fall 2021 collection. The collection has oversized menswear inspired blazers, strong shoulders, high-low gown, peplum inspired top, voluminous sleeves, high-waisted pants, etc.

Colors: White, black, blue, gray, and silver.

Tommy Hilfiger Biography American designer When he was 18, he opened a store called 'The People's Place in Elmira' which sold bell-bottoms, records, etc. He opened a chain of these stores but had to file for bankruptcy when the economy took a downturn Hilfiger was approached by entrepreneur Mohan Murjani, in 1984, who was looking for a designer to head a men's sportswear lineHilfiger was able to design the label under his own name Hilfiger's known for his preppy clothes with the red, white, and blue logo

Tommy Hilfiger claimed that this is their most sustainable collection yet as it was created with fabrics like ecoloft, cotton, tencel & viscose (wood-pulp fibers). Fabrics like denim and sherpa were also used.

Mood: The collection has a nature and outdoorsy influence. For example, a sweater dress in this collection said 'love your mother earth.'

Key Silhouettes: Some silhouettes in this collection include oversized utility parkas, puffer vests, flannels, high-waisted denim, bucket hats, and knits.

Colors: Blue, orange, red, black, cream, brown, white, and purple were used.
