Among her professional distinctions is the introduction and effective implementation of the rule of wearing helmet by two wheeler riders using persuasive methods in Hyderabad. She was awarded the IRTE Prince Philip International Award for Road Safety 2006. In recognition of her contribution, the WHO invited her to author the chapter on two wheeler injury prevention in its manual on road safety. She was awarded the Golden Jubilee Fellowship of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy for the sabbatical study on “The Changing Paradigm of Crimes Against Women in India” in 2003. As Additional DGP of Training, Ms. Tejdeep Kaur Menon has worked closely with UNAIDS and ensured that HIV is integrated as part of the curriculum of Police training colleges and academies in the State. The trainees are sensitized about HIV prevention, by disseminating reading material, short films produced by UNAIDS, interaction with HIV positive persons, trafficked persons and sex workers. This will go a long way in moulding Police behaviour towards trafficked persons and sex workers. The International Police Advisory Group (IPAG) of the Law Enforcement and HIV Network (LEAHN) and UNAIDS have designated her as focal point for India and nodal officer for Andhra Pradesh.
