“Saints & Sinners” is an irreverent comedy staged play that has a touch of romance and a huge dose of funny. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, April 5 and the Table Read on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 pm at the Seabrook Auditorium on the campus of Fayetteville State University. The nine (9) local actors selected will read alongside industry veterans actress Glenda Redfield, comedians Kyle Erby and Buddy Lewis. Actors selected to participate will receive an honorarium for their work. The local talent slots will be filled through reading auditions held on Tuesday, April 5. Auditions are open to all interested actors in the North Carolina area. In “Saints & Sinners,” Sheryl Underwood plays a female preacher who is the assistant pastor of Church Mt. Mariah, but she encounters trouble from a rival assistant pastor, Pastor Seymore Bills. Stacey McClain gives this overview: “Bills, has no shame in his game, when he sabotages Pastor Geneva Lomack in an effort to take over the sanctuary. With all that goes on, Pastor Lomack does not give up without a fight. She knows that Pastor Bills turns off the church air conditioner so he can sell more sodas in the lobby. And, she’s appalled when he instructs the deacon to sell more lotion to the parishioners, ‘cause too many of the saints are ashy.’ And, he even goes as far as hiring church members to make Pastor Lomack look bad. ” She adds, “one of the many highlights of the production is when both pastors deliver sermons that make the saints stand up and testify.“ Stacey says, “Sheryl Underwood did an amazing job with this story, and I'm excited that I've had the opportunity to help bring her vision to life. We want everyone to know that during this reading series of "Saints & Sinners," we are hoping to cast talented performers that will not only be a part of the reading, but who could possibly tour with the production. Buddy has performed stand-up in comedy clubs, colleges and other venues across the country for 15 years. Buddy has appeared twice on HBO's Def Comedy Jam and four times on BET's Comic View. In 2009, Buddy was a hit with his hilarious appearance on Starz Network comedy show Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment.
