LOBBY QUARTET ARTISTS ROY GARCIA The Venezuelan cellist Roy Garcia was born in Coro, Falcón state in 1972. He began his cello studies and music theory in The System of Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, (awarded with the Prince of Asturias award in 2008 and by UNESCO’s international musician price). From his hometown, he then moved to Caracas to continue his instrumental and chamber music studies at the Simón Bolivar Conservatory of Music. He finished his studies at the Higher Institute of Musical Studies in Venezuela. He has participated in master classes with the Maestros and Maestras: Alisa Weilerstein, Franz Helmerson, Philipe Müller. Phillipe Tribot, Viola Hofmeister, Adalverto Skocic, Tatiana Vajsilieva, Martin Making, Natalia Guttman, and Yo yo Ma. He has acted as a soloist under the baton of many Maestros in which they stand out: Gustavo Dudamel. Eduardo Rhan, Eduardo Marturet, acting with them in the most important concert halls in the country. His outstanding career as a musician has led him to obtain some decorations, among which the Order Jóse Félix Ribas stands out as the most important prize awarded to a young man by the president of the Republic of Venezuela at that time. In 2011, he was awarded man of the year in the cultural field and a Latin Grammy Award with the Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. In 2019, he won an Emmy Juan to the MDCTV award in Florida. Previously, in his native country, he won the competition for the main cellist position in the cellist line of the Falcón Symphony Orchestra, Venezuela. Years later he went to the city of Caracas, Venezuela where he competed to serve as the main cellist in the acclaimed Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. He repeatedly served as the main cellist of the cello line with the Orchestra. Through that the Orchestra, he had the opportunity to tour many countries of the world including: The United States, Abu Dhabi, Japan, China, Switzerland, England, Turkey, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Russia. Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and many others. He has performed under the direction of today’s most acclaimed orchestra directors such as: Claudio Abbado, Eduardo Mata, Zubin Mehta, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Daniel Barenboim, James Judd, Sir Simón Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, and many others. In his career he has ventured into rhe field of orchestra conducting by conducting several of the best orchestras in Venezuela. His pedagogical work stands out in the work done with the young Venezuelan cellists which whom he has collaborated in the System of Youth Orchestras 352-751-7799
