ABSTRACT The relationship between human beings and water resources, in the past so close, has now been disconnected due to a series of obstacles arising from the uncontrolled urbanization and development of the great metropolises. In this context, we identify the rupture of the landscape between the water courses of the city of Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo, in relation to the urban figure, specifically the Canal da Costa and its continuation with the Bigossi Canal, encompassing the neighborhoods Ilha dos Ayres, Cristóvão Colombo and Divino Espírito Santo, respective area to the choice of the project intervention. The study and the deepening of the theme together with the diagnosis of the region made possible the definition and essence of the proposal and its adopted methodologies. The landscape axis, values princi ples such as urban interaction; social interaction; recreation; contemplation and entertainment among the users and visitors of the city. All these intentions culminated in a linear park project for the Bigossi Canal and new urban settings; recovering and protecting the environmental potential of the region and the Rio da Costa and its health, as well as the valorization of the pedestrian, the incentive to use public transportation and the improvement of life for the population of the city. Also in the project is the establishment of a cultural complex as a cultural and leisure tool for the municipality, allowing it to know, develop and create new perspectives on the world. To meet the needs of the environment and ensure the perpetuation of the park, the entire area adjacent to the canal was considered and added to the studies. The Bigossi Linear Park and the Vila Velha Cultural Complex therefore behave as a proposal for environmental, social, cultural and urban renewal, with the reintegration of the city and its users among the Bigossi Canal.
