(A602.2) Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC Rules and will be held and judged in accordance with
the EC Rule Book all questions not covered by these rules shall be decided by the show management, whose decision will be final. (A602.4) Canadian entries are required to hold both an EC Horse Recording Number and have paid the Horse Recording Annual Activation fee to compete, or if owned by a temporary sport license hold, a Temporary Horse Registration form must be purchased at each competition entered. Foreign entries must sign an affidavit. (See A404) (A602.5) Any horse entered in any class at a competition may, may be selected for equine medication control testing while at the event location. (A602.7) Per Article A801, every entry at an EC sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the persons responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participation in any capacity in EC sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this EC sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any other additional rules imposed by the competition.
Equestrian Canada Statement of Principles Equestrian Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction. All Persons shall be committed to: *upholding the welfare of the horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities; *requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and compassion and that they never be subjected to mistreatment; *ensuring that all equestrians including owners, trainers and competitors or their respective agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their own horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose; *providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure; *providing current information on Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Equines and other equine health and welfare initiatives: *continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare; *requiring owners, trainers and competitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization’s rules, and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition; and *actively promoting the development and adherence of competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horse. The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, who is informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and competition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane. General Rules MEMBERSHIP: 2017 - EC General Regulations (A201) All Canadian Owners & Riders must have Valid EC Gold Sport License (A205) and a Provincial Membership (OEF or equivalent) (A203). OR Purchase a Single Event Upgrade (A211) or License Transfer (A212) for a Silver or Bronze Sport License to Gold Sport License. OR Purchase a Temporary Sport License (A208). Must be a member of OEF or equivalent. No points will be accumulated. EMG is not permitted to submit temporary forms on behalf of owners / riders. An Equestrian Canada Temporary form must be completed and signed by the exhibitor/person responsible before entry numbers will be released.

OHJA Membership (owner & rider) is required to track provincial points and participate in any OHJA Programs. CET Membership is required to compete in the CET Medal Class (G1108.4) CET Mini Medal is exempt. All Seniors competing in an Amateur classes must posses an EC Amateur Card (A902) Valid USEF Membership Cards are also acceptable for US owners/riders/horses.
FEI Competitors: must have Valid EC Platinum Sport License (A204) and current FEI Registration number.
HORSE RECORDING NUMBERS: 2017 - EC General Regulations (A402) All Canadian entries are required to have an EC Horse Recoding Number and have paid the Horse Recording Annual Activation fee. FEI & National Federation Passports are acceptable. OR Exhibitor must obtain written notification from EC stating passport is enroute or being processed. OR Purchase a Temporary Horse Registration (A411.3). No points will be accumulated. EMG is not permitted to submit temporary forms on behalf of horses. An Equestrian Canada Temporary form must be completed and signed by owner/person responsible before entry numbers will be released. A valid USEF Recording, Registration or Foreign Affidavit is also acceptable. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to provide to the Horse Show Office current membership numbers prior to competing. Anyone competing without proof of 2017 EC Sport License and Valid EC Horse Recoding Number will pay the Temporary Sport License / Temporary Horse Registration Fee at each competition until it is provided. Temporary fees are non refundable upon the completion of the respective competition. Post Entries: All entries received after the entry closing date may be assessed a $25.00 post entry fee. Adds: Show Entry: Will be welcomed after the closing date, but may incur a post entry fee. Day of Adds: will be accepted (schedule permitting), a late fee per class may apply. Competitors are asked to notify the show office/ingate if they wish to add a class. Entry numbers on Judges Cards will be automatically entered. Scratches: Class Scratches: Competitors are asked to notify the show office/ingate if they are unable to go in a class. Classes entered and not completed (on judge’s card) will receive a full class refund. No class scratch fee. Show Scratch: All entry fees will be refunded less a scratch and administration fee. There are no refunds for Stalls. Please Note: All entries submitted will be processed without payment, minimum charge for an entry will be a scratch fee and administration fee.

General Rules Numbers: A method of payment (open cheque or credit card) must be on file prior to release of numbers. Only numbers with outstanding balances from previous weeks will be held until paid. Trainers are no longer responsible for clients’ unpaid accounts, and may pick up numbers with a open cheque or credit card. Numbers must be worn and visible at all times while mounted. Prize Money: Prize money will be credited to each horse’s account. Prize cheques will be made payable to the owner of the entry, unless the office is notified to pay to the rider. Cheques will be mailed within 21 days of the close of the horse show. Cheques will only be issued to those entries whose accounts have been paid in full. Returned Cheques: A $50.00 charge will be assessed on all returned cheques and the exhibitor will not be permitted to show at any future EMG Shows until the account has been settled. Unsettled accounts will be turned over to EC, which will result in suspension from all competitions. Schedule: The show management further reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine any class or condition they deem advisable without notification. Every effort will be made to provide as much notification as possible. Please check web site www.caledonequestrianpark.com after 8 pm for any changes. Dress Code: See Rule G109 Polo Shirts are acceptable attire in the jumper rings during the week unless otherwise noted. Proper Attire (jackets, ties, chokers, etc.) is required for all jumpers beginning Saturday morning and for the balance of each show. Proper attire is required for the Open Welcome Classes. Hors Concours: Permitted in Jumper Classes only. Entry must be declared at the Horse Show Office. Hunter Classics: Unless otherwise stated, All Hunter Classics will be 2 rounds with top 10 retuning for second round. Numerical scores from each round will be combined for results. Ribbons 1-8. Jogging required. Non-Showing Horses: All horses on the property must have a signed entry blank, both owner and rider must provide a current OEF Membership number. Nonshowing horses must abide by all Caledon Equestrian Park and Equestrian Canada Rules. Non Showing horses are eligible to purchase Hunter Warm Up Tickets ONLY. Horses found without an entry blank will be charged an additional fine of $100.00. Veterinarian/Farrier Services: Responsibility of payment for services and supplies: All owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any bills for veterinary, farrier and food services. Any exhibitor not meeting this obligation to the official Show Veterinarian or farrier may be deemed an undesirable exhibitor and entries from that exhibitor may not be accepted at subsequent shows. Wash Racks: Horses must be bathed in wash rack areas only, no bathing in barn aisles. The wash rack area is for bathing horses only. Notice to American Exhibitors: While every effort will be made to assist you in the variances of EC rules over USEF rules, the sole responsibility is entirely the Exhibitors’ to be aware of EC rules. EMG does not accept cheques marked payable in Canadian Funds drawn on a US account. Dog Rule: The owner of any loose dog on the property will be fined $100.00. If found loose a second time owner will be required to remove the animal from the property. NO DOGS are permitted inside any of the buildings on site, including the indoor arena and FEI Barn. As in any public park owners are required to abide by the Town of Caledon “Poop & Scoop” by-law. Vehicles: all vehicles must be parked in designated areas only. There is no parking on the roads or in the barn areas at any time. All motorized vehicles including golf carts, scooters, dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, etc. must be operated by Fully Licensed Drivers Only. The Caledon Equestrian Park Pavilion and Arena Complex are licensed areas. No alcoholic beverages are allowed other than those purchased at the bar located in each area. Jumper Nominations: Junior Amateur: $140 - 1.10m & above | Open Jumper: $160 - 1.15 & above | FEI Jumper: $250 Nominated Jumpers will only pay 1 Nomination fee. Any horse who jumps in an open class and a Junior Amateur class will only pay the Open Nomination fee. FEI Horses will only pay FEI Fee. Nomination fees will only be refunded (less a scratch fee and administration fee) if the following conditions are met; 1) The horse has not shown in any classes. 2) The horse show veterinarian issues a scratch certificate. All jumper classes will be conducted under Articles 238.2.2 (timed first jump off) unless otherwise specified. Riders are reminded that they must declare each day for the next day’s classes. You may choose to remain in one division and declare on the entry form at the time of entering or at the office prior to the show for all of your classes.

Stalls & Campers STALLS: Stalls must be booked in writing, using Stall Request Form. Stalls will be assigned by EMG office. Please make sure to check Stall Map upon arrival and use the assigned stalls. All horse trailers and RV/campers please use North Entrance - 49 Buckstown Trail. You are responsible for payment of all stalls ordered. Stalls are available after 8 am 1 day prior to the start of the horse show and all horses/equipment must be removed by 12 noon the day following the completion of each show. Horses remaining in stalls after this will be charged for the additional week.

FEI stalls: Stabling in the FEI Barn is restricted to Horses competing in the FEI Classes. All horses stabled in the FEI Barn must jog and comply with FEI Drug & Schooling Rules . All horses stabled in the FEI Barn will pay the FEI Jumper Nomination and FEI Drug Fees. No riding or mounting will be permitted in the FEI Barn, please use mounting area provided in warm-up rings. NO DOGS are permitted inside any buildings on site including the FEI Barn. Feed Deliveries: Please contact Nobleton Feed Mills 905-859-0762
CAMPERS: All campers spaces must be reserved in writing using Camper Request Form. Camper spaces will be assigned by EMG office. Please make sure to check Camper Map upon arrival and park in the assigned spot. Camper space includes 30amp service and water hook-up. There is absolutely no gray water drainage allowed on the grounds. Campers are now on town water, please do not remove back flow preventers. Any exhibitor not abiding by this Town of Caledon by-law will be fined and removed from the property. NO OPEN CAMP FIRES PERMITTED ON PROPERTY. The classic will offer 2 heights 2’6” & 3’ and will consist of two rounds with open numerical scoring, the top 10 scores will return for round 2. Scores from both rounds will be combined to determine final placing. Winner will receive a cooler, prize money & ribbons to 8th. East/West Challenge - $500 bonus provided by Chiefswood Aftercare to the Thoroughbred with the most points from all classes in the Hunter Challenge series. Approved by the National Federation: ************** THE FEI CODE OF CONDUCT The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) expects all those involved in international equestrian sport to adhere to the FEI’s Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept that at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences. 1. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation. 2. Horses and Athletes must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids. 3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event. 4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This covers proper veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and retirement. 5. The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise. Hunter Class Specifications Every hunter class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book. Additional Rules: Low Child / Adult Hunter: Open to all Children and Adult Amateur Riders per EC rules. Riders may NOT cross enter at the same show into any Hunter Division with heights more than 2’9” or any Jumper classes with heights more than 1.0m. Riders may compete in equitation classes where the height does not exceed 3’. Classes in these divisions will be split if entries warrant, when split, the classes will run concurrently and be pinned on separate cards. Showing in this division will affect a horse’s eligibility. Jogging is not required.
Beginner Rider / Child Adult Hunter: Beginner Hunter is a rider who has NEVER won 3 first place ribbons over fences at an Equestrian Canada (EC) or USEF Horse Show (Provincial Competitions and Combined Training not to count). These wins are Lifetime achievements. Schooling Non-Pro and Short Stirrup not to count. Winning your way out - If during a competitor’s first year of showing in this division, they win 3 first place ribbons, they will be allowed to remain in division to the end of that calendar year. In any subsequent years of competition, should they fulfill the WIN Factor, they must progress to another division at the next show. Definition of Children's and Adult Amateur Rider per EC rules. Class conduct as per EC rules. Riders and horses may cross enter to other divisions for which they are eligible. Classes in these divisions will be split if entries warrant, when split the classes will run concurrently and be pinned on separate cards. Showing in this division will affect Baby Green Status. Jogging is not required.
Children’s Pony Hunter: Open to all ponies ridden by a junior. No in and outs. Division does not affect Green Pony Status. Ponies and riders may cross enter into any other division they may be eligible for. Please indicate pony size on entry blank. Jogging is optional.
Short Stirrup: This division is intended as an introduction to horse showing for children not ready for the regular pony and hunter divisions. Open to Junior “C” riders. Riders in this division may only cross enter into the Walk Trot and/or “C” Equitation on the flat classes. Riders may not show in any other classes that requires them to jump. Riders must enter and complete at least one over fences class in the division to be eligible to compete in the Under Saddle Class. Ponies or horses may enter. Suitability is a factor. Horses or ponies may show in other classes with a different rider.
Lead Line: Open to Riders 10 yrs. and Under. Must be accompanied by handler 16 years & older. Signed Entry Blank must be on file in Horse Show Office.
Baby Green Hunter: 2’9” Open to horses that have not competed in an EC sanctioned Gold or Silver competition (or equivalent) in any class requiring the entry to jump 2’9” (.85m) prior to January 1st of the current year.
