THE ENGLER-FRIEDLANDER MEMORIAL TROPHY

The Engler-Friedlander Memorial Trophy is awarded to the Hanoverian mare that achieves the highest Mare Performance Test score during the annual inspections. The trophy honors the passing in 1998 of former Society President, Herman Friedlander, and long-time board member, Dr. Reto Engler, both who passed away in 1998. John and Tracy Weyl generously sponsor this trophy.

Grey C Top (Grey Top x Delightful/Drosselklang II) was destined to be a performance horse.

Carlos and Gabriela Fernandez of Barcelona Farms first saw the jumping talent in her half-sister – Coco Chanel (Contendro I x Delightful/Drosselklang II), who was a champion mare in Canada, earning a 9.75 in her jumping test.

Owner: Carlos and Gabriela Fernandez

Breeder: Carlos and Gabriela Fernandez

“I really like the bloodline of her dam, Delightful, so I thought this time if I bred Delightful to Grey Top, the foal would be a taller, more modern type,” explained Carlos.

He was right. Grey C was top filly at her inspection and now she’s earned the Engler-Friedlander Memorial Trophy for the highest Mare Performance Test score. Their plan for

Gracie is to compete her on the jumper circuit and then add her to their breeding program.

This is the second time they’ve won this memorial trophy. Their first win was with HRH Real Emotions (Raphael Son II x Pagoda/ Prinz Gaylord).
