Head of the Badung Tourism Office, I Made Badra, justified the lack of tourism businesses having possessed the SMPH. Actually, this effort is meant to provide a sense of security for in-house guests. “Of the 1,320 businesses in Badung, 150 have been verified and 80 others have been certified. We have continued to disseminate about this program. Moreover, 700 businesses have been provided with dissemination,” said Made Badra, on Tuesday (Feb. 13). According to him, the provisions of SMPH have been mandated in the regulation of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Number 106 / PW.006 / MPEK / 2014 on Hotel Security Management System. This policy becomes a reference assessment in the standardization of business or classification of star- and no-star-rated hotels. “The SMPH is handled by the Bali Police team, while we just provide coaching and dissemination. However, for the common good, we hope that all the tourism businesses have this certificate for the security and comfort of tourists,” he explained. This bureaucrat originating from Kuta also asked the team of SMPH Badung to continuously provide dissemination by teaming up with the Business Certification Agency (LSU) of Bali region. “Hotel security verification is an important part in facing the free market next year. Moreover, a number of areas such as Nusa Dua which is often visited by state guests should do the verification,” he said. Division Head of Tourism Resources, Nyoman Suardana, previously admitted to have conducted dissemination. This activity is carried out in order to provide protection for business activities of tourism facilities that needs to assure the security in their business premises. In addition, it is also meant to encourage the role of entrepreneurs of tourism facilities in creating a sense of security and comfort for tourists in the business of tourism facilities. “The dissemination of SMPH is carried out in an effort to follow up the Regulation of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the RI No.106/2011 on Hotel Security Management System, where every tourism business is required to apply the hotel security management system,” he said. In addition to providing dissemination, the participants are also taken to have field survey in order to check the completeness of the tourism business associated with security standards complying with the established security standards. “In the dissemination of this time, we include totally192 tourism businesses. Next time, we are going to organize a site inspection,” he explained. After the dissemination, tourism businesses are expected to proceed to the level of verification conducted by the Bali Police. The verification is important for hotels that will be upgraded from non-star to star-rated hotels. “We oblige them to classify the hotel after having got verification from Bali Police,” he concluded. Bridge swept away, tens of residents at Subaya isolated again BANGLI - Dozens of families in Subak Yeh Tangga, Subaya village, Kintamani, gets isolated again after the bamboo bridge that all this time serves as the only transportation access in the local area was washed away by the river flows. To get to the market and the nearest school in Tejakula, Buleleng, the people in Subak Yeh Tangga are now forced to walk across the river.

A resident of Subaya, Wayan Windia, said on Tuesday (Feb. 13) the bamboo bridge extending over the Yeh Tangga River drifted last Sunday afternoon. Before the bridge was washed away, Subaya village was showered with torrential rain for several days. Heavy rains lasting on Sunday caused the flow of water in the Yeh Tangga River to overflow so the bamboo bridge extending

above it was washed away. Windia said the drifted bridge was last made around February 2017 by the Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel. It is also meant to facilitate the delivery of logistics to Subak Yeh Tangga during landslide and flood natural disaster. “The bridge was made by the TNI as the previous bridge was washed away during the disaster” he said.

Windia added the drifted bridge greatly hampers the economy of residents. Residents of Yeh Tangga are now isolated. Besides, dozens of local residents wishing to sell their agricultural products to the market and go to school are forced to cross the river. The depth of the river that must be crossed by residents and school students is around knee-high of adults. “When the bridge drifted,

the water level almost reached 1.5 meters,” he said. He said the drifted bridge was the only access of people’s transportation at Yeh Tangga to the outside region. The area of Subak Yeh Tangga is inhibited by approximately 22 families. To get to the center of Subaya village, residents of Yeh Tangga must travel very far on foot by climbing up the hills. (kmb40)
