FASHION SHOW By Charles A. Me and Jimmy went to Old St. Pat's. We drove up there on the highway. We did a video for the fashion show. There was a schedule telling us when we were supposed to start. One of the ladies there showed us where to set up the cameras. Then we went to the conference room to wait until we start. The conference room was nice. There was 2 rooms in there with blue chairs. I ate chips while we waited to start, and Jimmy had peanuts. We both had a drink. Jimmy took a picture of me in the conference room. One of the boys there was talking about his gym shoes and how he made them. We filmed him in front of the brick wall. Jimmy didn't have the microphones that you put on the shirts, so we did the interview with the camera. The boy decorated them. He had 3 pairs of shoes. Then his mother put them back in the boxes. She put plastic over it to protect it. Kristen was there. Marty was there. We saw Monika too. I saw Susan too. We saw Janet. One of her clients was there with her. One of the clients wanted me to walk her up to the stage. I was busy doing what I was supposed to do. Janet asked if I wanted to go up there on the stage, and I said, "No thanks!" They were calling the kids to the stage. Then they gave them flowers, roses. They gave them little trophies. We saw Z. Jimmy introduced me to him. He was up there too on the top of the building. I like how Z did the music. He tried to turn the lights off too to show the kids. I took pictures of the kids. I was listening when Jimmy told me what to do. I turned the dial on the camera to get the focus on the lady with the microphone who was calling them. I had to follow her with the camera. She walked right in front of the camera and said, "Sorry!" We took videos of them a couple more times. The masks were last. Monika did the masks. Three ladies were talking about the masks. They were holding them on their faces. The masks were nice. Me and Jimmy went up to the balcony. Then we went downstairs again. Then I took more pictures. I had money for lunch, but they just gave us Subway. I gave Jimmy the chips because I didn't like that kind. We ate in the parking lot. We brought the mannequins back to Westtown because Kristen didn't want them there. I was carrying them under my arm! I had fun! It was a good experience - something for me to do, keep me busy.

INTERVIEW ABOUT WEAVING By Lucy P. Weaving is great. We weave at Westtown every Tuesday and Friday. We are making placemats for Blue Bottle. Blue Bottle is a coffee shop that is opening by the Merchandise Mart this summer. It was fun being over there doing the weaving. I got to show Emily my hook rug. They interviewed me. They asked me a lot of questions about when I started and how long I’ve been on the weaving line. It was great. I like the weaving line. It’s a success. I love Emily and I love Kendall.

THE WEEKEND PLAN By William H. I cooked dinner at home. I made mashed potatoes, steak, and some corn. I want to learn more about cooking. I went to church with my sister Wendy. I helped my pastor put water in the pulpit, I cleaned the lights, and I cleaned my chair before I sit in it. I prayed in the choir room before the people got there. I took their temperature and welcomed the people aboard in the church. They asked me to move some stuff in the church, like move things around. I said I will do it for free out of the kindness of my heart. I want nothing but to get to Heaven. The Bible says if you help people, you will be blessed. You cannot be God-given, no matter how hard you try. I cleaned the house. I helped the staff do laundry as usual. I went to Walmart and Wendy's with my girlfriend.

THE WESTTOWN PROJECT By Matthew M. I watered the plants. I helped Paula with those big, blue tree planters in the Westtown parking lot. I moved them around. Some needed to go on the side, and some needed to go along the fence. We set the other pots around the fence too. I watered all the flowers by the door, all the trees, and the Weaving Mill corn. I was a good help.

BE KIND By Valerie J.

You gotta be kind to everybody. Be nice. Get along. Listen to the boss. Dont get an attitude. I'm tired of people talking behind your back and stuff.

COOKIES By Ruth and Rosa We made cookies - shoes, dresses, and purses. We put them on the cookie sheet. They are for the fashion show.

Being kind is important to me. Be faithful. Do what you got to do.

SHEDD AQUARIUM By Marcus W. This is a report on how I went to Shedd Aquarium. I saw dolphins, fishes, and whales. "I was fun," I said. "The article is very short." I walked around the Shedd Aquarium and see lots of whales in the water. The article is very short. I was terrific at the Shedd Aquarium. I went to buy food at lunch. I had chicken patties, french fries, and Pepsi soda. I had a great time at the Shedd Aquarium. I hope I might go again next year!

THE GARDEN CENTER By William C. The flowers were beautiful and gorgeous. If the flowers really got a smell to it - a good smell they make women's perfume out of it. If women are going any place that is dressed-up, they want to smell nice. Sometimes the flowers show love, especially for Mother's Day. You could buy flowers for your mother and a card that goes with it. Me, Charles, and Hannah went to the garden center. Charles was looking for the flowers that he really liked, and I was shopping for round and rectangle trays to put under the pot so when people water them, the counter doesn't get wet. I was very interested in light blue flowers when I did not see too many of them. May your flowers and Mother's Day be unconditional, meaning that no matter how your Mother is, you will always love her. She brought you into this world.

LEWANDOWSKI JOURNALISM CLUB The members of Lewandowski Center collaborate with local journalist Ruth Lopez to collectively write articles about current events.

THE HATMAKERS OF LEWANDOWSKI | JUNE 8, 2021 For the past few weeks, clients have been making hats in the art room next door. Before we interviewed the artists, we watched a short documentary on 100 years of hat styles. “My mom always wore hats to go to church,” said Eunice. We watched a video of a hat maker shaping a hat with an iron and a lot of steam. When it comes to hats, the style most of us really like is the fedora. It’s timeless.

The hat makers of Lewandowski have been working with hats that have been donated, and adding special things like ribbons and fake flowers or painting them. It’s called upcyling. Big Mike showed us his creation. “I like making stuff,” he said. Mike’s floppy white sun hat is decorated with purple, blue, green, and yellow fabric flowers. They go all around the hat band. “I made it for girls,” he said.

Geoff showed us a straw hat that he painted a bright blue. He added a sparkley silver ribbon. “It’s for my lady,” he said. He also made a bracelet to match. “I’m going to take it home to show my family.”

CHARLES' ENTERTAINMENT REVIEW M*A*S*H SEASON FOUR This show is about a MASH unit in Korea in the 1950s. My favorite is Hawkeye because he’s based on the book Last of the Mohicans. I like him because he’s funny. He plays a doctor with the character B.J. Hunnicutt. He came to Korea because they needed an extra doctor to help the MASH unit. I like Margaret because she’s a tough nurse and she reads books. I like Colonel Potter too. He has a horse and he talks about his family and he talks about his wife. I think he’s tough. Franklin passed away. I think he was kind of funny and he likes to yell. He is good. He doesn’t like Hawkeye because he calls Frank Burns “Ferret Face.” Him and Margaret dated on the show. Radar is great. The actor was in a laboratory episode of Wonder Woman because he needed a formula, but he couldn’t remember it. I like Klinger too. He wore dresses and that guy is funny. He is always trying to get out of the unit, but he never does. Father Mulcahy was in an episode of Hogan’s Heroes too.

I like Season Four because it is the funniest. They are doctors so they help people. It’s in a camp in Korea. They all wear scrubs because they are doctors and I like all of the medical tools they use, especially the scissors. I have the reunion too. That’s about how they do the stories and how they play the characters. The producers talk to the cast about it.

I like M*A*S*H. It’s on MeTV now. I rate it 5 stars based on the characters and how funny it is. I would say that Alan Alda is the best because he is funny, he drinks, and he always has magazines.

SHEDD AQUARIUM By Christina, Charles, Sophia, Ruth, and Rosa

Welcome to the Shedd Aquarium. Marcus, Lucy, Sophia, Christina, Ruth, Rosa, Terrill, Maurice, Charles, and Vahid went. Sophia says, "I got to hang out with Aquillia. She's my friend. I like her." We had to wait in line for people to go inside the building. They checked our bags. We saw different kinds of fish, whales, dolphins, sharks, starfish, turtles, and a crab under the water, hiding. You're not allowed to touch them. Christina sang "Baby Shark" when she saw the sharks. Some fish were small and some of them were big. The starfish were small, like the size of your hand. The fish were all different colors. Some of them looked like Nemo. Some of the dolphins were white and some were black. There were a lot of people there. We ate lunch out on the deck. There was a store there like a cafeteria. We bought snacks and drinks in there. Charles bought a Coke. We saw the lake, the ferris wheel, the Sears Tower, the skyline, birds, and boats. We went to the downstairs gift shop because it was cheaper. Charles got a shirt that says "Chicago" on it, and Christina got turtle earrings.
