A semi-anechoic chamber is a special room designed to minimize reflections, similar to an anechoic chamber, but with one key difference: the floor.
01
The walls and ceiling are covered with sound-absorbing materials like wedges or foam pyramids.
The floor remains solid, allowing for testing of heavy equipment like cars or machinery.
02
03
This reflects some sound waves, simulating real-world conditions where reflections occur.
Minimized reflections:
Similar to an anechoic chamber, the walls and ceiling are lined with soundabsorbing materials to minimize reflections of sound waves or electromagnetic waves. This allows for accurate measurements of the direct wave properties, free from distortion caused by reflections.
Solid floor:
Unlike a full anechoic chamber which has a mesh floor, a semi-anechoic chamber features a solid floor. This enables the testing of heavy equipment such as vehicles, machinery, and appliances which wouldn't be supported by a mesh floor.
