Introduction
It is with great pleasure that the ENSSEE board invites you to the XII ENSSEE on 23-26th October. The ENSSEE Forum is an international congress where state of the art information, research and projects are presented around the following themes: • Sport and coaching • Sport and health • Physical education • Sport management During the congress you will be informed about new opportunities around sport themes in Europe, you will be inspired by recent projects and will get the chance to broaden your network and create innovative new project ideas with people from across Europe.
This year, the forum will be held at the Hanze University of Applied Science in Groningen, the Netherlands. The School of Sport Studies has excellent, inspiring and professional facilities to host this event. And of course we invite you to discover the great city of Groningen. As a lively university city, Groningen has the youngest average population in the Netherlands. It has a long and turbulent history, which becomes evident from the historic warehouses, courts and buildings. Groningen is also a city with energy, with the most numerous examples of innovative architecture within its boundaries. We hope to meet you in Groningen in October!

We present a dynamic program with expert groups on Sport Management, Sport Coaching, Physical Activity and Health & Physical Education who will present state of the art research and projects. During the congress, there are also creative innovation sessions in which all participants will play an active role and brainstorm about new project ideas.
Furthermore there will be a speaker corner where international, national and local speakers, researchers, partners and project coordinators present their projects, organizations.

Marc Lammers Former head coach of the Dutch women’s national field hockey team “Too often we want to improve our weaknesses, but it might be wiser to... train our strong sides for 75 percent and our weak sides for 25 percent. Try it and you will notice that everybody is starting to feel better. That is the point where you start distinguishing yourself from other people.”

He uses a lot of technology in his modern style coaching, such as video glasses, analysis software, new hockey sticks, heartbeat meters and earphones. Marc’s presentations are innovating, visual, interactive, lively and emotional. Examples derived from practical experiences provide a perfect link to other branches of industry. Coaching has changed tremendously over the last years. Marc has his own clear vision on the new developments.

Does cooperation in an international network come easy to you. of the ENSSEE Sports Games. With a lot of time pressure we will be competing in 20 teams. Horizon 2020 and the Erasmus programme ‘Youth education and sport’. Spread over three days you will be working in a team of and your team don’t bring the best ideas, sorry... you won’t reach networks. If you are capable of making a solid plan in a short amount of time – convincing your colleagues of your ideas – than we have spot on the podium with your name on it.
The Sports Games is a new and energizing way of working in which the best ideas will survive! So make sure you are in your best shape, mentally and physically. Of course in the Sports Battle participating is just as important as winning!

Applications of the SportsFieldLab in research and education The SportsFieldLab Groningen (SFLG) is embedded in the School of Sports Studies and comprises four laboratories; an Exercise Performance Testing Lab, a Biomechanics Lab, the (Neuro)Psychological Lab and (Video-)Observation Lab. All these labs are anchored to a The overall aim is to support and enhance education, facilitate research projects and to provide service to (groups of) people. These SFLG-facilities are used for research and developed directly feeds back into the educational program. Therefore, the SFLG offers students, athletes, teachers and researchers an inspiring environment to learn and innovate their profession. In this demo/workshop, ran by students working in the labs, the innovative test and measurement facilities and their applications in research and education will be demonstrated.

Groninger Museum The registration and opening ceremony of the XII ENSSEE forum will take place at the Groninger museum. We have arranged that participants of the forum can visit the museum before registration. The Groningen Museum, a work of art in itself, is one of the most beautiful and special museums in the Netherlands. The Groningen Museum is located opposite the main central station and is the to its striking design by Italian architect Mendini, but also because of varying exhibitions, including works by Russian painter Repin, American photographer Andres Serrano, and Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf. The permanent collection consists of a large assembly of porcelain and works by the Groningen artists’ collective De Ploeg.

Gala dinner AA-kerk The last evening of the ENSSEE forum, a gala dinner is offered to all participants. The dinner will take place in a very special environment: Der Aa-kerk in Groningen. The history of the church probably starts at the end of the 12th century, with a three-aisled vaulted cruciform basilica which at that time has the title of chapel only and is mainly used settled at the banks of the river Aa. In the 13th century permission is granted to use the building as a parish church, named Onze Lieve Vrouwe ter Aa (Church of Our Lady ter Aa), although the church is also dedicated to St. Nicolaas, protector of sailors. The current church is largely the result of a major transformation of this Romanogothic church into a Gothic one. A big restoration was started in 1975 and was completed in 1987. In that year the church-council handed the building to a seperate foundation that now maintains it and rents it for all sorts of events.

Martini Church and Tower The most important Groningen monument is the Martini tower which has overlooked the city for over five hundred years. This fourth highest tower of the Netherlands can be climbed until the third gallery, during which visitors can also communicate with the tower via their mobile telephones! Afterwards, see the Martini church, the largest church in Groningen. Originating from approximately 1230, it includes frescos from the 13th century, and one of the largest Baroque organs in northwest Europe.

Prinsenhof and Prinsentuin During recent years, Radio/TV Noord was accommodated in the Prinsenhof, but they moved a short while ago. Originally used as a monastery, a suitable function for this complex is now being looked for. Behind the Prinsenhof is the Prinsenhoftuin, which includes a rose garden and herb garden, and a footpath covered with foliage (berceau). The garden, surrounded by a wall, is one of the best examples of a Renaissance garden in the Netherlands. The Prinsenhoftuin garden is opened from early April to half-October from 10 am to sunset. The tearoom is open during fine weather.
Goudkantoor (gold office) Originally a provincial tax office, this building was built in 1635. With its lavishly decorated façades, it was the last Renaissance style building to be constructed in Groningen. It was given the name of Goudkantoor in the 19th century when the “bureau of security for gold and silver” was located here, and it is now a café/restaurant.

GasTerra Flames Groningen The Club GasTerra Flames Groningen is a Dutch professional basketball club, playing in the Dutch Basketball League. The home arena is Martiniplaza in the city of Groningen. The club won the national championship three times: in 1982, 2004, and 2010. In 2005 and 2011 they won the NBB Cup.
The History
The Venue Martiniplaza, formerly Martinihal Groningen, is a complex located in the Dutch city of Groningen. It is used as an exhibition complex, theater and Sports Arena. The Sports Arena ias a capacity of 4,500.
In 1881, gymnastics club Wodan and fencing club Mars, both part of the student corps Vindicat, merged to form GSSV Donar. In 1951 the basketball department of this club was founded. In 1970 the club promoted to the highest basketball league.
Nederlanden announced to stop as sponsor. After one year of playing under their name, Donar was demoted to the rayon league. Donar became champion that year and promoted to the promotion league. In 1986, Donar returned to the highest league; where they remained ever since. On February 1, 1991, the Basketball Business Club (BBC) was founded. The club is currently sponsored by GasTerra, which has a contract until 2014.
