The Swedish academic environment may strike international students as being very informal. Teachers and staff members dress rather casually.

Within the first two weeks of the semester you need to register in the Student Records System, Ladok, for each course you plan to take. Information on registration will be given during the Orientation Programme/ Information Day. Registration is done at the • Valla Campus: Student Reception Desk in the Zenit building • University Hospital Campus: Student Reception, main building, entrance 65 • Norrköping Campus: Student Reception Desk, Kåkenhus building, Bredgatan 33

Language of instruction Teaching at Linköping University is usually conducted in Swedish, but all faculties offer a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses with instruction in English or in a combination of Swedish and English. In most cases the literature, individual supervision and exams will be in English, while lectures are normally in Swedish. Tutorial groups may also be arranged in English if problem-based learning, PBL, is the educational method used (at the Faculty of Health Sciences, for example).

Students with special needs Linköping University wants to offer support for students with special needs to make it possible for them to pursue studies under the same conditions as other students. LiU is well suited to special needs students. There are lifts in all buildings and easy access to public conveniences, specially adapted for special needs students.
