Roswell Couple Established 2nd Charitable Gift Annuity with the ENMU Foundation
1957 ENMU graduate Roy Isler and his wife, Leona Isler, of Roswell, N.M., presented ENMU $50,000 in April 2007, establishing their second Charitable Gift Annuity with the ENMU Foundation.
Roy Isler speaks highly of his former professors and administrators, including Dewey Langston, Leroy Pinnell, C.B. Wivel, Ira C. Ihde, Carl Parker, Thelma Mallory, C. M. Stookey, P.M. Bailey, Henry Hahn and the list goes on. They attribute much of their “reasonably successful” life to ENMU. “We had to borrow money to even get married,” said Roy, “but it is the fine faculty and administrators at ENMU, more so than Texas Tech, who we owe so much gratitude to over all these years.”
Their philanthropic generosity will establish the Reid Allen Isler Memorial Scholarship Fund for education, fine arts and pre-med students. They both adamantly believe that “It was simply our time to give back.”
The Islers established their first Charitable Gift Annuity in the amount of $300,000 with the ENMU Foundation in 2005. Charitable Gift Annuities start at $10,000 and traditionally provide better interest rates than certificates of deposit that are also guaranteed for life, offer significant tax benefits, and an opportunity to make a charitable gift to the ENMU Foundation.
