ENMU Offers New Study Abroad Scholarship for Students
By Jacob Mercer
ENMU recently established a Study Abroad Scholarship to enhance the opportunity for students to spend a semester studying at a university outside of the U.S.

In a practical sense, studying abroad strengthens students’ resumes in an increasingly globalized job market, and builds their intercultural skills, language skills, adaptability, creativity and comprehensive knowledge of their field that employers are seeking. According to Bloomberg, international experiences tend to promote the development of cognitive, intellectual and social skills that might not be easily accomplished through other mechanisms. Students with study-abroad experiences frequently report these experiences as being among the most memorable and valuable of their entire college career. Through interactions with other cultures, students grow in their abilities to question their own beliefs and independently expand their knowledge and creativity.
As a member of CONAHEC (Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration), ENMU has the ability to send students to over 170 partner universities in an ever-growing list of countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Finland, Germany, Guatemala, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Through CONAHEC, students can enroll at ENMU while courses at a host institution count toward their degree plans. They continue to pay ENMU tuition and keep their financial aid — with airfare, cost of living and in-country travel as additional expenses.
The new Study Abroad Scholarship will allow more ENMU students to have access to this opportunity.
