Home to some of the best inland sailing in the United States, Green Lake’s horizon is often decorated with brightly colored sails. The Green Lake Sailing School offers lessons throughout the summer (greenlakesailingschool.com), and the Yacht Club hosts racing every Sunday in front of the Heidel House.
Cruise the lake by boat. Anchor in the shallow waters of Norwegian Bay to reconnect with friends. Pull out your skis, tubes, and jet skis for a thrill ride. Don't have equipment? Boats, jet skis, water skis, tubes and life jackets are available for rent. See page 49 for rentals.
There are many secluded hidden coves, bays and shorelines on Green Lake to explore via paddleboard, kayak, or canoe. See page 51 for paddling rentals.
Big Green Lake is the deepest natural lake in Wisconsin and is one of the best fishing lakes in the state for both novice and experienced anglers. For those seeking some expert guidance in fishing, there are a number of services available. See page 16 for more details on fishing in the Green Lake area.

A short trail through the woods leads to a boardwalk over the largest area of contiguous wetlands on Green Lake. A sitting bench at the end of the boardwalk overlooks Green Lake.

This property includes 1,100 feet of Green Lake frontage and a hiking loop (Hammer’s Trail) with five bridges over several creeks and springs. The waterways merge into Assembly Creek, which flows into Norwegian Bay.

This former Native American trail follows the elevated shoreline along the north shore of Green Lake and offers incredible views of the lake. Near the east end of the

Approximately 1 acre, this property is home to native oak savanna with a sitting bench.

Located in Highknocker Park, this short trail takes you on a leisurely walk through a wooded loop. Let the kids enjoy the park playground equipment before you leave.

Located along Silver Creek Inlet, this wide, level walking trail meanders through a mixture of woods and restored prairie.
Once slated for development, the property features several man-made channels and scenic vistas of the Silver Creek Estuary.

These two adjacent proprieties totaling over 38 acres consist of restored tallgrass prairie with some riparian forest along Silver Creek.

This spectacular site was formed 12,000 years ago when post-glacial meltwater eroded the sandstone bedrock, resulting in a steep-sided and timbered gorge with a springs at the base. Previously farmland, this 7.5 acre property is being restored to prairie and oak savanna. The prairie features a mowed trail, with sitting benches for taking in the natural beauty.

This 40-acre property along Green Lake’s unspoiled south shore also borders Spring Lake to create a riparian habitat for a large diversity of wildlife. An exceptionally scenic property with sandstone cliffs, shallow caves, and towering trees, Tichora features 800 feet of shoreline along Green Lake with beautiful views of the lake.

This property is home to 3.2 acres of southern oak forest/wetlands. There are no established trails, but visitors can explore the property.

Green Lake's hiking trails are protected and maintained by the Green Team—a partnership of the Green Lake Sanitary District, Green Lake Association, Green Lake Conservancy, Green Lake School District and volunteers who donate their time and talent to maintain these special places.The Green Team has been in existence since 2008.
Wisconsin has been ranked one of the top states for cyclists, and Green Lake shows visitors why. Explore the area on miles of paved trails and casual rides around the lake, or participate in the annual Green Lake Bike 100 event, held the first Saturday in June.

Enjoy beautiful views of the lake on the most popular bike route in this part of the state. This route circles Green Lake and is a combination of on-road and trail riding.

These paved multi-use paths connect the Green Lake Conference Center (GLCC) to Ripon. From the trailhead, head west through the GLCC (3.2mi) or east to Ripon (6.8mi).

n 3 NORTHWESTERN TRAIL 2.5 MI.
This shaded old railroad bed takes bicyclists through the city of Ripon, around Ripon College, past beautiful Victorian homes and onto Watson Street to explore a treasure-trove of boutique shops and restaurants.

n 4 MASCOUTIN VALLEY STATE TRAIL 11 MI.
This trail stretches between Berlin and Ripon along the old Milwaukee railroad bed. A packed limestone base, the trail passes through protected wildlife areas and wetlands.

Take an agricultural tour on this loop with scenic hills, fields & farmsteads.

Experience the thrill of jumps and switchbacks with nice climbs for the off-road adventure seekers. Built on the side of a hill, this trail winds through hardwoods and tall prairie grasses. Open in winter for fat-tire cycling.

Visit Big and Little Green Lake as you climb the hills between glacial drumlins and farmland. Pack a picnic and end your ride with a refreshing dip in Big Green Lake.

Enjoy the quiet rolling country paved roads of Green Lake County. This trail crosses Snake Creek and continues to the Fox River.

Big Green Lake is Wisconsin's deepest natural inland lake at over 230 feet deep and home to an outstanding diversity of fish species! Whether you're seeking peace and solitude or a trip full of fun and laughter with friends and family, Green Lake is your place to fish.
A fishing license is required in Wisconsin for anyone 16 or older. You can pick one up at any local bait shop. Fishing regulations, including minimum lengths, bag limits, and more, vary by lake. For more information, go to dnr.wi.gov.
Green Lake provides an exciting amount of fish throughout winter. As the ice thickens to support shacks, contact a guide to take you on an adventure of a lifetime. And if you think it is cold on the ice—guess again—heated shacks allow for hours of fun. Get creative and cook-up fresh fish right as they’re caught and you won’t need to head to shore all day! Join us for our ice fishing tournament during WinterFest on Big Green the last Saturday in February.
There are many great fishing options that don't require a boat. Deacon Mills Park, Playground Park, Sunset Park, Hattie
Sherwood Park and the city pier located between Hattie Sherwood Beach and downtown Green Lake are all great spots to fish from shore.
If you are serious about hooking up, hiring a guide can really pay off. Their knowledge of the area and conditions can mean the difference between going home with a fish fry or dining out. See page 50 for a list of guide services.

Discover Green Lake's rich history at the Dartford Historical Society and Depot Museum. Visitors young and old can learn about the history of the people and nature
in Green Lake–once know as Dartford. The Historical Society is open on Wednesdays from 9am to 3pm and the Depot Museum is open from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
This international organization holds its annual film festival in downtown Green Lake. With over 900 film entries submitted, this festival features topics ranging from conservation and nature to wildlife stories from many cultures. It’s an event you won’t want to miss.
A hometown favorite, the Green Lake County Fair takes place the first week in August at the Green Lake County Fairgrounds. Live music, animal shows, a demolition derby and tractor pull, carnival rides and games and other kids activities make this 4-day event one of the most fun Green Lake traditions you won't want to miss.
An organization rooted in Green Lake since 1979 brings world-class artists from throughout the United States and abroad to the area. Festival concerts range from classical chamber and choral concerts to jazz, cabaret and world music.
Many talented artists call Green Lake home. You can find their art at one of the local art galleries or see pieces on display at the Green Lake Fine Art show, which happens every August. THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING HAPPENING AT TOWN SQUARE
Green Lake is a place where winter is embraced, and there’s a running list of reasons why you will want to bundle up to appreciate the season.
Green Lake is one of the best places to see ice boating in action each winter. These machines are capable of hitting top speeds anywhere between 90 and 140 miles per hour.
Once the ice covers the lake, you can move farther out for deeper-water ice fishing and search for lake trout, musky, walleye, panfish, cisco, white bass and catfish.
The area features over 150 miles of interconnected, well-groomed snowmobiling trails, where it’s not uncommon to encounter deer, wild turkey, bald eagles and other wonderful birds. You may even be lucky enough to spot a snowy owl. Plan your winter trip by snowmobile; trails will lead you to the front door of several lodging and dining options in Green Lake.
If you prefer to keep your boots on the ground, head to Zobel Park for an exhilarating sled, tube or snowboard ride down the hill.
An ice rink on the southern end of downtown is a popular spot for families and couples to skate beneath the twinkling lights. The rink has plenty of free skates to borrow, and there’s a warming shelter for a comfortable break.
We are fortunate to have winters that are long enough to enjoy. You can explore your favorite outdoor attractions with a pair of snowshoes, cross-country skis, fat-tire bike or a lower-impact walk in the winter landscape.
Winter is the perfect time to indulge in some pampering. Elan Brio Spa has luxury spa
facilities including saltwater rain fall soaking pools and invigorating herbal steam rooms. Enjoy massage service, facials and body services to promote balance and awakening to recharge your mind.
Escape the cold outside with some indoor fun bowling or playing arcade games. Whether you're in the mood for a quiet night out or a lively party, head to the 300 Club–Green Lake's state of the art bowling center with 12 lanes. The 300 Club also has an arcade, pool tables, big-screen TVs and a variety of drinks, food and entertainment options.
