Lancashire Hall, located on Lititz Pike, held a Flag Day ceremony on June 14. More than 50 residents and staff members attended the ceremony, which was held by the flag pole in front of the nursing and rehabilitation center. Bill Terry and Mike Wert, both veterans, were speakers. Terry talked about the history of Flag Day, and Wert discussed the symbolism of each fold of the flag. In the Navy, Terry was a petty officer (E-6) who served as a medical deep-sea diver for 21 years at bases along the East Coast as well as three years in South Korea. He is currently the commander of the U.S. Navy Club of America Ship 166, and he runs the Veterans Breakfast Club of Lancaster. Wert served for four years with the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg. He is a caretaker for homeless military veterans, a member of the Lititz American Legion and is a facilities management technician at Ephrata Veterans Place. Also attending the event were Bruce McCullough, who served in Vietnam and is the commander of Lititz VFW Post 1463; Ray Sylte, who served for five years in the Navy and is a member of Lititz American Legion Post 56; Skip Walls, an Army veteran who has also spent 55 years
