Engineering Aid Australia (EAA) ignites big dreams for future generations of First Nations engineers, scientists and technology professionals. EAA is a not-for-profit organisation that inspires and supports Indigenous Australian high school students to pursue further studies and careers in science, technology, engineering and maths. Founded in 1996 by Jeff Dobell, EAA conducts the Indigenous Australian Engineering School (IAES) in Sydney and Perth each year. Sydney University and Curtin University currently host the programs. About 25 Indigenous Australian high school students from around Australia attend the IAES program at no cost to themselves. IAES alumni mentor the new students. As they have experienced the program and pursued engineering studies and careers, they become role models for future generations. Over more than 25 years, EAA has built a strong, positive and supportive community that includes global and local engineering companies, government bodies, science and education stakeholders and alumni. Through the generosity of its sponsors and supporters, EAA provides IAES students with financial assistance to complete their high school studies and to study engineering or a related discipline at an Australian university. The EAA network supports students to find work experience and career opportunities with its sponsors.
