MCCARTHY AND STONE APPOINTS NEW MD TO DRIVE PRODUCT AND SERVICE OFFERING McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, has announced the appointment of David Searle as its new Managing Director of Services. David will lead the c.1,500 strong management services team as McCarthy and Stone continues to transform and innovate its service offering. Central to this transformation has been the recent change that now sees all regulated care, domestic support and property management services provided directly by McCarthy and Stone. The existing supplier, YourLife Management Services Limited (YLMS) has now become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the McCarthy and Stone Group. David brings with him extensive experience of new product and services development in senior roles at the Yell Group, 118 118, and latterly as Managing Director of Financial Services and Product & Business Development Director for the AA. There he was responsible for driving a number of the AA’s businesses in new directions both organically, through business acquisitions, and joint ventures. David’s primary responsibility will be to build substantially on the foundations of McCarthy and Stone’s services business and lead on the further development of McCarthy and Stone’s market proposition that is seeing it transition from a house builder to the UK’s leading developer, manager and owner of retirement communities. This includes the launch of new services such as integrated technology in the form of online GP services, smart technology and electric car clubs. Mike Lloyd, Chief Operating Officer for Customers and Services, for McCarthy and Stone, commented: “We are delighted to announce that David Searle is joining McCarthy and Stone at this exciting time. Our strategy calls for us to innovate and expand our services – and this is central to what our services team needs to focus on at this time. David’s success in his previous roles will help us drive this forward.” David Searle, Managing Director of Services, McCarthy and Stone, said: “I am extremely pleased to take up this important position with McCarthy and Stone. Having discussed the exciting plans for the business, it is clear that the success of our product and service offering are fundamental to the commercial model and to the company achieving its ambitions. A good example is the significant milestone of bringing the delivery of the regulated care, domestic support and property management services under our direct control. This will enable us to further enhance how such critical range of services are delivered across our retirement communities and allow us to create even deeper and longer relationships with our customers.”
